BJJ Yoga and Art? In one place? Seems odd.
We’ve been in Lyneham for two years now and have heard many people have said that to us.
Mostly it’s because these days people are quick to judge and many have been trained to assume they know the book without reading it completely.
We share a space right on the main drag of Australia’s capital city with an authentic yoga and Ayurveda business And I’m (Mike) a professional practicing Australian artist
My artworks, mostly nudes, are all over the walls and sculptures adorn the room. It’s a solo studio-gallery.
Yep, there are paintings with ni***es, and plants, and sound bowls, and an Ayurvedic food-medicine kitchen right in the same room as our BJJ mats.
We keep it clean. We keep it respectful.
Why? Well for one, it’s practical. Rent is high and we do what we can for people.
Second, all of it combined teaches us about ourselves. We exercise and feed our bodies, focus our minds and create with our emotions. And how all of affects each other.
We learn how we can be humble. How we can be healthy in all the ways. All the physical and all the subtle aspects. We’re upfront about that.
It’s about learning how to cultivate, liberate and manage our energy.
How we choose to use it. Why.
And what happens when we do.
We tap. We bow.
Above all, it’s about people.
And living well while we’re here. Not waiting until we’re sick or older.
We’re doing it now.
