Hi Ceylon Challengers fans,

The day has come, the moment we have all been waiting for! Three Challengers teams are competing in the Grand Finals of the Canberra City & Suburban Cricket Association 2025/26 season today, and it's a proud and historic occasion for our club.

Our Grade 1 team, led by former Sri Lanka Development XI cap and first-class cricketer Shehan De Silva, will take on the Workers Redbacks at O' Connor.

Our Grade 2 team, captained by Albab Masud, an experienced grade cricketer, will face Barton Cricket Club at Nicholls.

Our Grade 6 team, led by pace star Zafran, will go head-to-head with STC Pumas at Deakin.

Fans, come along, bring the noise and support all three teams. Let's make today a day to remember!!!

🏆 **Man of the Match** 🏆

Kalu rose to the occasion with a match-winning all-round display in Ceylon Challengers’ thrilling Grade 1 encounter against Canberra City Cricket Club.

In what turned out to be a low-scoring nail-biter, Kalu stood tall when wickets were tumbling at the other end, producing a brilliant 61 off just 49 balls, laced with 11 crisp boundaries and a towering six. His composed yet attacking knock anchored the Challengers’ innings and guided the team to a fighting total of 119 runs.

Behind the stumps, Kalu continued to shine. His sharp wicket-keeping proved decisive as he claimed two vital catches and a crucial stumping, playing a key role in dismantling the opposition’s chase.

Thanks to his outstanding contributions with both bat and gloves, Canberra City were restricted to 112 runs, handing Ceylon Challengers a hard-fought 7-run victory in a gripping contest.

An outstanding and dominant bowling and batting display from Sri! Sri delivered a magnificent all-round performance for Ceylon Challengers in their clash against Canberra City Cricket Club. With the ball first, he played a crucial role in restricting the opposition, claiming 3 important wickets for 31 runs and taking a brilliant catch as Canberra City were bundled out for 194 runs in 34 overs.

In reply, Sri anchored the Challengers’ innings with a superb unbeaten 92 off 97 balls, striking 10 elegant boundaries. His composed and determined knock guided the chase with authority, steering the team to a comfortable six-wicket victory.

🏆 **Man of the Match** 🏆

All-Round Brilliance from Hiru! He delivered a superb all-round performance for Ceylon Challengers in a crucial clash against Spartans Cricket Club.

With the ball first, Hiru played a key role in restricting the opposition to 111 runs in 35 overs, picking up 3 crucial wickets for 31 runs and keeping the pressure firmly on the Spartans batting lineup. In reply, he backed it up with a solid innings of 40 runs off 52 balls, which included 2 boundaries and a six, guiding the Challengers towards a comfortable chase.

This valuable win also secured a special milestone for the team, as Ceylon Challengers finished the season as Minor Premiers in Grade 4.

🏆 **Man of the Match** 🏆

An outstanding and dominant bowling display from Pahul! He delivered a sensational five-wicket haul for just 14 runs in his allotted 9 overs, including 3 maidens, completely dismantling Lions Cricket Club and restricting them to just 82 runs.

His accuracy, control, and relentless pressure set the tone from the outset. Pahul also contributed brilliantly in the field with a sharp catch and played a part in a crucial run-out, capping off a complete performance.

The Challengers chased down the target comfortably within 22 overs, sealing a convincing 7 wicket victory.
