WEDGES

The uniquely innovative 309HCG wedges draw upon the proven science of vertical gear effect to achieve an increase in backspin. Experienced clubmakers are aware that impact below the CG (Centre of Gravity) with a driver increases backspin due to the principle of the vertical gear effect.

Wishon Golf has employed this lesser known principle of clubhead dynamics to create an all new family of wedges that deliver enhanced backspin by moving mass higher on the head to position the CG above the typical point of impact on the face. Impact below the CG causes the head to rotate slightly forward which causes the ball to roll up the face to offer a slight increase in backspin over the normal reaction of the ball to the friction of the areas between scorelines. Adding to the spin enhancing weight distribution on the 309HCG wedges is the R&A/USGA legal milled face.

More mass high on the head raises the CG to create a vertical gear effect on normal impacts to augment the amount of backspin.
R&A/USGA legal milled face augments the effect of the higher CG to enhance backspin.
Available in 50°, 55°, 60° lofts in the traditional sole width version as well as a 55° wide sole model for additional game improvement help from the sand and tall grass.
Designed with zero bounce heel to prevent raising the leading edge when the face is rolled open to reduce the chance of blading/skulling the ball from tight lies.

Looking for Distance?
Here it is.

The unrelenting C830.2 Plasma driver is what driving is all about. Whether you're looking to out-drive your weekend buddies, or you're out to dominate on the World Long Drive circuit. There's no driver out there that's more forgiving and straight than the C830.2. A super deep face and minimal distance to the hosel (from the COG point) fights the downswing force that typically causes pre-impact face angle distortion. This deep face coupled with Variable Face Thickness technology gives you the benefit of a super large sweet spot. The result is maximum horizontal energy transfer towards your target. In other words: Long, long, and longer.

Should You Consider Using a 60 Degree Wedge (or Higher)?
Clubmaking

One of the most popular reasons for using a 60 degree wedge is anytime you don't have a lot of green to work with. You can pull off those incredible shots that you see the pros do Sunday’s on TV. However, it takes some practice – something the average golfer might not have the time to do.

If you have a lot of room between you and the hole should you use a 60 degree wedge? Many experts will say you are better off using a lower lofted club to chip with and let the ball roll toward the hole whether it be a mid-iron, hybrid, or putter.

But there might be other reasons to carry a 60 degree (or higher lofted) wedge in your bag that aren’t commonly discussed. For starters, if the golf course you play has postage stamp greens or well-placed bunkers that limit run up shots to the hole, then a 60 degree wedge has a place too.

Secondly, there are golfers that don’t have the fine motor skills to take a sand wedge or another lofted golf club and take a partial swing to dial down the distance. The result can be a flub, chili dip, double hit or other stroke wasting maladies that seem to carry over into the remaining holes and create a terrible round. This includes golfers who have experimented with a chipper and found it hard to control distances.

For those player’s, it might be easier to take a full swing with a higher lofted club and know it will only go so far. While a PGA professional golfer might be able to hit a 60 degree wedge from 125 yards out, the average golfer will be much less with a full swing; more in the 30-80 yard range. This is one time your mileage may vary.

Another advantage of a higher lofted wedge (60°+) is that they will have less bounce than a sand wedge and easier for most players to hit from tighter lies in the fairway. These also work for hard packed sand traps. With the additional loft, there is generally no need for you to strike the ball with an open face.

So, you can see, there are a number of reasons to consider carrying a higher lofted wedge in your bag. Take note of your strengths and weakness, especially if you play one course the most often. You may find that course conditions and your ability (or lack thereof) to take one club and create different distances will help steer your decision on whether to add a 60 degree golf club to your bag.

Four years in the making, the 719MW is the most advanced moveable weight driver designed by Wishon Golf. The basis for the 719MW can be traced back to an early design in the mid-80s by Tom Wishon and Elmore Just – the founder of Louisville Golf Company: the Cure driver was the first original heel-weighted draw-bias driver ever made in the golf industry. Made from laminated maple, it effectively proved that the centre of gravity on a clubhead can be shifted with the heel weight. And when a golfer contacts the ball in an on-centre shot, this causes a slight rotation on the vertical axis, creating in essence, a tilt on the spin axis of the ball: reducing the amount of fade on a shot.

A later woodhead design in the mid-1990s by Tom Wishon, the AccuCore 50 Driver, would further demonstrate the benefits of heel-weighted drivers, but also most importantly that at least 25-30g was needed in the heel-side to move the COG enough to the point where a centre shot off the face would create a visible draw bias effect on the shot.

Many modern adjustable weight drivers have a maximum of 20g of moveable weight – this is not enough to move the centre of gravity and create a marked difference for the vast majority of golfers with average clubhead speed.

So when Wishon began the design process for the 719 moveable weight driver, it was obvious that it would need to have the ability to move at least 30g of additional weight around the head to be able to offer regular golfers a chance to be able to see a change in the shape of their shots.

And that’s not an easy task (to say the least).

For a 440cc driver, total weight shouldn’t exceed 202-205g in order to be built to a normal range of swingweights, so to take the additional moveable weights, the body of the head had to be in the realm of 172g – an extremely difficult object to achieve.

Wishon was able to engineer the 719MW with the help of one of the very best investment cast titanium foundries in the world, and by varying the wall thickness and removing the entire titanium crown, replacing with lightweight carbon composite, we were able to create the objective design for the 719MW.
