Well what a big weekend for us at the annual Historics Motor festival meet for us! The car ran great in both Qually and Race 1 but a miss calculation at turn 3 in race one saw the RECAR regrettably wounded with a broken headlight\grill and lower control arm\Z bar damage. The repairs in the pits saw the car ready for race 2 with 3 mins to spare!. Races 3, 4 and 5 saw us hold position 5 in prep for Race 6. Race 6 was a bit more eventful with lap 5 ending with a broken steering pump hose that pushed oil all over the exhaust resulting in lots of smoke in the cabin and smoke screen for those following. Fearing engine damage we called it early and parked it up in the infield resulting in a DNF for that session. No engine damage thankfully. Luckily the collated points for the weekend saw us end up in 4th position over all in the Commodore Cup category, so no bling for the mantel piece but not a bad outcome considering the hickups. :)
The car ran strong all weekend and was the fastest its been at QR with the new engine. We have a few little things to sort out before the next event, but thankfully nothing serious .
A big shout out to HRCC for a great event, Terry Skeen for putting together the Commodore Cup category so we could come out and play racecar's in the sun :) and Chris Walsham for the amazing photo coverage. In car video montage to come :)
