Shotokan Karate is a traditional Japanese martial art It emphasizes strong, deep stances and powerful, linear techniques, combining strikes, blocks, and kicks with a focus on discipline, form (kata), and spirit (kime). Budokai is a Japanese word for as association or group that practices Shotokan karate as a martial way
Therefore, Shotokan Karate Budokai represents - an association or group dedicated to practicing and promoting Shotokan Karate as a martial way

OUR HISTORY
The SKB Karate Association was founded in 1984 in Brisbane by Chief Instructor Sensei Trevor Roberts and his great friend David Booth Sensei . Sensei Trevor has been a full-time karate instructor since SKB’s inception and currently holds the rank of 7th Dan Black Belt. He began his karate journey in the UK, earning his 1st Dan under the legendary late Sensei Keinosuke Enoeda, before emigrating to Australia in the early 1980s. In addition to his karate expertise, Sensei Trevor is an accredited Shiatsu massage specialist. He integrates his understanding of pressure points to both heal and enhance the effectiveness of karate techniques in real-world applications. Over the decades, he has represented Queensland as a competitor, coach, national referee, and State President, as well as serving as National Coach for the Papua New Guinea national team. He has produced numerous State and National champions under his guidance. OUR TRAINING FACILITIES
Our Dojo headquarters (Honbu Dojo) Dojo is located in Camira near Gailes , located halfway between Ipswich City and Brisbane just off the Ipswich Motorway with plenty of on-site parking available. suburb of Brisbane - It is a purpose built facility, equipped with:
• Professional training mats
• Full-length mirrors
• Striking bags, focus pads, and traditional equipment
• Comfortable viewing area for parents and visitors
• Clean and modern changing facilities
OUR CLASSES
We offer classes every weekday, with separate sessions for advanced verses new students / children verses adults and also separate sports competition training for both Children and Adults :
• Juniors (beginners and advanced)
• Adults (beginners and advanced)
Saturday mornings feature two focused training sessions one for junior and one for senior students who wish to compete in Oceania, State, and National competitions. All classes are conducted by Sensei Trevor or our team of highly experienced Senior Black Belt instructors - each an accredited coach, first aid trained, police checks and dedicated to student safety and progress.
