For those unfamiliar with CrossFit, Crossfit is a strength and conditioning program that builds strength and increases endurance while working on your weaknesses using

functional movements, olympic lifting and gymnastics combined into high intensity and varied workouts. The importance of training power! đŸ’„

Power: defined as the product of force and velocity, is your body’s ability to generate rapid force output in tasks like rising from a chair or climbing stairs, and it’s crucial for adults of all ages, including older adults, to maintain independence and mobility.

Unfortunately, muscle power begins to decline by approximately 2.3 % per decade after age 35, and this loss is a stronger predictor of fall risk than strength alone in community‑dwelling seniors.

In CrossFit, we train power all the time, through explosive Olympic lifts, box jumps, plyometrics, and kettlebell swings driving adaptations that help preserve neuromuscular function and functional capacity as we age.

Visualisation: The mental rehearsal of a skill is a powerful tool for developing movement patterns and accelerating skill acquisition. Research backs this up: A classic study by Dr. Guang Yue at the Cleveland Clinic showed that participants who only visualised themselves throwing darts improved almost as much as those who physically practiced. Their brains activated the same motor pathways as actual practice - just by imagining the movement.

That means when you mentally rehearse the timing, coordination, and feel of a skill, you’re literally training your nervous system to perform it more efficiently. No weights required.

In CrossFit, this means:
