Well Saturday afternoon threw us a curve ball. The storm that initially looked like it was going to go around us decided to hit instead. The rain it dumped resulted in the arenas ending up in a gluggy slippery mess. Didn't look to bad until you tried to walk on it - yeah nah.
It's such a shame because prior to that everyone seemed to be having a great day - probably with the exception of poor Pete who took a nasty fall. He's still in hospital with some broken bits but we've been told he's on the improve enough to start giving the nurses cheek. Thank you to all that helped Pete with special mention to Tanya, Monique and De'hanne.
We made the difficult decision to cancel Sunday as the condition of the arena surfaces were just not safe to proceed. It was great to see some of you make the most of it and take advantage of the lovely grounds and enjoy a ride out through the park on Sunday.
The Training Sessions were once again very well received, so thanks Norm for sharing your time and expertise and as usual a huge thank you to all of you that give your time to help us run the events. There's always lots to be done to keep it all running so your help with cattle, organising riders in and out of the pens, timekeeping, doing coaching runs etc. is greatly appreciated.
As mentioned in a previous post refunds of Sundays entry fee's are available or you
can choose to have your money held over in credit toward the next event. If you do wish to get a refund could you please message the page ASAP as I would like to get them processed as soon as possible.
The results and happy snaps for Saturday are below so congratulations to all winners and placegetters.

‼️ATTENTION PLEASE📢‼️
Newcomers and Novices
Training Sessions are back for 2026

Due to the success of the previous Training sessions we're going to run these again at the March Event.
2 sessions will be run on each of the mornings with approx. 8 riders per session and are designed for anyone who is new to working cattle, those wanting to work on their skills or as an introduction to cattle for young horses away from the pressures of the Competition arenas.

➡️Each session will run for around an hour and a half and the cost per session per rider will be $50.00. To book in for a session please add this to your entry details.

➡️You can do a training session in the morning and then have your 3 runs after your session has finished.

The feedback that we got after we ran these before was extremely positive with many participants commenting on how beneficial they found the sessions and how much they enjoyed them.

Wrap up and Results from Sunday 7.12.25
Firstly, apologies for how long this has taken me to get this post done. Life got a bit busy 🤪but finally got to putting this together. Thanks to all of you that sent photo’s in for me.

The weather played much nicer for us on Sunday although there were a couple of “fresh” horses about that were showing their enjoyment of the cooler conditions🫣🤭. Everybody soon settled and it ended up being a great day of Sorting. Thanks to all our riders for being mindful of the cattle on both days.

The Christmas Parade made a reappearance again this year and although a bit smaller in numbers than some previous years there was still a fabulous effort put in by those who decked out themselves and their horses in Christmas gear. Mrs Claus judged the best presented to be young Evie Briggs who was at one of our events for the first time with her Grandmother Sue.

One of the many things I love about Team Sorting is that it’s such a family sport. We have many families that come and compete at the same event but in many instances can’t actually have a run together. The Old Hands and Young Guns event that we finally got to run on Sunday afternoon gave them the chance to do this as well as other “Old Hands” having a chance to ride with and encourage our up-and-coming “Young Guns”. It was great to see everyone really enjoying themselves with many of the Young Guns showing the “older folk” how it should be done. We even had a mum who’d never sorted before who nervously got herself into the ring with her daughter to have a run for the first time, had a good go at it and looked like she loved it.

Following are the results for the day so please join me in congratulating all our winners and placegetters.

🤩🥳Finals Event Wrap up and Results for Saturday🥳🤩

WOW what a way to finish our 2025 season. The Finals weekend turned out to be great. We could have used a few degrees less in the heat scale on Saturday but with the early start and some very helpful cloud cover and breeze we managed to wrap up the Finals events before it got too hot. Thank you to all our competitors that did their part in making sure that they were ready and waiting for their runs. Congratulations to our cattle crew who did an amazing job managing the cattle and ensuring that their welfare needs were very well taken care of.

After Sausage Sambo’s and very appreciated Zooper Doopers we held the Presentation for the Winners and Placegetters. There had been some fantastic runs put together in the Finals events and this gave us some very close results. Congratulations to all that won or placed in their divisions as detailed below. There was a change in the 9th and 10th placings for the Open Final as I had missed entering a time for one of the runs. Sorry Brittany!

In addition to the cash component, and with thanks to our Sponsors, the Winners and Placegetters received some great prizes to take home. Belinda Haines did an amazing job sourcing all of this for us so a huge thank you to her as well.
The following people, companies and organisations provided a variety of things for us to be able to give out so please support them when you can.
