Mr Ryan shows us a torpedo (streamline) in lessons and why it’s such an important skill!

You’ll see torpedoes introduced from our earlier levels, helping swimmers learn strong body position, balance and movement through the water before progressing into more advanced swimming skills.

It might look simple, but it’s an important building block for what comes next 🏊‍♀️

Welcome back to Part 2 of our Blue 2 level!

As our swimmers continue building their freestyle skills, we also start introducing new ways to move confidently and independently through the water.

In this part of the lesson, you’ll see:
💙 Soldier arms on their back
💙 Introducing backstroke
💙 Dropping down and retrieving dive sticks

These skills help build body control, coordination and confidence in different positions in the water, while continuing to develop the foundations they’ll need as they progress through our levels. Blue 2 is all about taking those foundations and building on them to make stronger, more capable swimmers!

We are celebrating 10 incredible years of Nicole at SwimAway! Nicole, we can’t thank you enough for everything you have given to SwimAway over the past 10 years. Not only are you an amazing swim teacher, but as our Program Coordinator, you play such an important role in creating our programs and training our teachers to be the very best they can be.

Your knowledge, passion and genuine care for every child shines through in everything you do. SwimAway and our team wouldn’t be what they are today without you. We are so lucky to have you, we appreciate you more than you know, and we absolutely love having you as part of our SwimAway family.

Happy 10 years, Nicole! Here’s to many more 🥰🎉

Love the SwimAway Team xx

The chlorine smell is permanent, the hair is always wet, and yet we still wouldn’t trade it! Coming soon to Netflix...probably not.

You’ve probably seen these skills in our lessons, but do you know why we practise them so often?

Miss Diane takes us through the progression from jump and recoveries to roll and floats, and explains why they’re such a regular part of our program. A little look at the purpose behind what you see in the pool 👏

A few familiar tools from our lessons! Which one is your child’s favourite 👀

There’s a lot packed into the second half of a Blue 1 lesson!

Alongside developing their swimming technique, our swimmers work on a mix of stroke foundations, safe recovery skills and confidence in different areas of the water.

In Part 2 of Blue 1, you’ll see:

💙 Kicking on their back with a kickboard
💙 Soldier arms on their back
💙 Jump and recover to the edge
💙 Jump, roll and float
💙 Dive sticks (because learning should always be fun!)

From learning to move efficiently on their back to knowing how to recover after a jump, each skill builds on what our swimmers already know and gives them more ways to feel capable and confident in the water.

Strong swimming skills AND strong water safety skills - that’s what Blue 1 is all about!
