Congratulations to Calwell Athlete Felix on his selection to the ACT Cross Country Team! So proud of you, run hard and enjoy yourself.

Congratulations to the following 59 ACT athletes who have been selected to represent Team ACT at the 2026 Australian Athletics Cross Country Championships in Ballarat at the end of August.

These athletes will take on the renowned Ballarat cross country course, where they'll no doubt encounter plenty of mud, challenging obstacles and the thrill of competing against the nation's best distance runners.

We congratulate every athlete on their selection and wish them all the very best as they proudly represent the ACT. Good luck, Team ACT!

For the upcoming 2026/27 Season, Capital Athletics have introduced a new structure to the fees they charge. We have tried to break it down into an easy to read format.

*Main changes from the club*

* Our Club fee remains the same for athletes U6-17
* Tiny Tots club fee has gone up $5 and will have 2 dedicated timeslots chosen upon registration.
* We are introducing Community Athletics, this is open to anyone over 17 who just wants to come on down and have fun, there are no set rotations or PB ribbons or end of season trophies. Just a way for friends to get together and have a run, throw or jump, or even meet new friends!
* We are also extending to Competitive open Athletes, those who have finished their journey with U17s and still want to compete in Capital Athletics events as a Calwell Athlete. This will be the same format as the Community Athletes.

* Capital Athletics changes *

The main one is they are introducing an all access type package for U11-17 and 18+ Competitive, included in this is:
* Capital Athletics Fees
* Club Fees
* All Capital Athletics run event fees (Relay Carnival not included) so you no longer pay individually for Summer Series, Combined Event, Cross Country, State Championships Etc. This is great value for those Athletes who compete beyond Calwell Athletics.

Registrations are open now, however our Club Meets won't start until October 17th.

Registrations are now open for our upcoming State Accredited Referee (SAR) Course — the perfect opportunity to get involved in athletics in a new way and play an important role in our sport.

Whether you’re a parent, former athlete, supporter, volunteer, or simply passionate about athletics, officiating is a rewarding way to stay connected to the community. Officials are vital to delivering competitions across the ACT, from Little Athletics carnivals through to state-level events.

We’re also proud to launch Able Officiating alongside this course — an inclusive initiative encouraging people with disability to become qualified athletics officials in a supportive and welcoming environment.

Officiating is a flexible role that values knowledge, attention to detail, and a passion for the sport. It can provide purpose, confidence, connection, and meaningful involvement in athletics.

Participants will receive:
✅ Nationally recognised SAR accreditation
✅ Practical hands-on training
✅ Ongoing mentoring and support
✅ Opportunities to officiate at competitions throughout the season

A quick reminder to everyone attending the CA Short Course event at Stromlo that check in is online and must be done 30 mins prior to scheduled race time.

If you are heading to the Short course Cross Country today, a few very important reminders.

Check-In & Competition Bib

-Check-in closes 30 minutes before your race.

No call room – report to the event site no later than 10 minutes prior.

Competition bib and club uniform (with age patch) must be worn.

Congratulations to our very own Felix and Banjo who competed at the Australian Little Athletics Championships held in Brisbane over the past 2 days.

Felix competed in the U13 Boys 1500m, 800m, TJ, Javelin and the Relays

Banjo competed in the U12 Boys 1500m 800m and the Relays
