Did you know tag league can be an amazing opportunity for skill development in the NRL off season?
Participating in tag league can assist in building essential core skills, improving spatial awareness, and developing confidence in a safe, low-contact environment.

Core Skill Development
- Handling and passing: Players practice crisp, accurate passing under pressure without the distraction or fear of an impending heavy collision.
- Evasive running: Attackers learn how to change pace, use effective footwork, and spot gaps instead of running directly into defenders.
- Support play: Because a tagged player must pass quickly, teammates learn the habit of staying close in support.

Tactical and Defensive Improvements
-Attacking space: It reinforces the primary rule of rugby—going forward by attacking open space rather than seeking contact.
-Defensive line speed: Defenders must move forward together in a coordinated line and communicate to shut down space.
- Low body height: To successfully grab a tag, defenders must bend their knees and get low, mirroring the proper posture needed for a safe tackle in full-contact rugby.

Confidence and Safety
-Removing fear: Beginners and youth players build self-belief and comfort around a rugby ball without the risk of injury from hard tackles.
-Smooth transition: Fundamental habits become second nature, making the eventual step up to contact rugby league much easier.

As well as supporting general fitness and agility over the off season period.
