What is Plan B Racing up to? Plan B Racing was formed to compete for the first time in the 2013 Australasian Safari. Australia's toughest off road race to be held from Sept 19 to Sept 27, 2013. In the future Plan B Racing will also be competing in other events such as The Island Classic and the Condo 750 and probably some others too. Who is Plan B Racing? Team manager and Rider is me, David Trant
er. I am a 45 year old widower from the Gold Coast in Queensland. I started riding bikes when I got my bike license at 17 years old and got my first bike which was a Yamaha RD250LC. It was a few years later when I decided to try out dirt bikes and got myself a DT200R which gave many years of great adventures. I do not recall where I first heard about the Australasian Safari but I am sure that it is what sparked my initial interest in dirt bikes. To race in the Safari is a dream I have had for more than 20 years but I never really thought that dream would come true. Well now, a very sad turn of events has given me the opportunity to do The Safari and I have grabbed that opportunity. There is no "Luck" about it! A big part of Plan B Racing is our helpers Ronny Funk, Richard Erickson, Daniel Topfer, Daniel Piccinini, Gary Irish and Mick Swanson and many more. Why are we called "Plan B Racing"? Here we must discuss the very sad events that led to Plan B being put into action. Plan A, was for me to live the life my Wife and I had planned out for ourselves, but in mid 2011 my wife became sick and after that her condition would sometimes improve a bit but then deteriorate even worse, to the point that she needed an Organ Transplant to survive. Sadly by November 2012 her condition had gotten too bad to receive an Organ Transplant, and she passed away. She was 38 years old and we had been together for nearly 23 years. Since then I have really come to realize that we only get one go at life and that we must grab every opportunity life gives us and live it to the fullest and chase our dreams to make them come true, just as my Wife did with her dreams. What's all this "Donatelife" stuff about? Firstly, we are NOT looking for money! DonateLife is part of the Australian Organ & Tissue Donation & Transplantation Authority which are funded by the Government. Australia's Organ & Tissue Donation/Transplant system currently ranks 22nd in the world which I think is, Not Good Enough! There are a few things that need to change for Australia to have Worlds Best Practice in place for Organ & Tissue Transplants and some of these things are in the bureaucracy of Hospitals and the Government, but what we can do is exactly what the "Donatelife" people do and that is to help raise awarness and to discuss Organ & Tissue Donation with your Family & Friends and ask people to register their decision ( yes or no) with the Australian Donor Registry. Thanks from Plan B Racing
