Stratford Dolphins Football Club (SDFC) is one of the proudest, professional, and respected clubs in the FNQ football league, as well as the most successful in terms of premierships won. As one of the oldest clubs in the Cairns region, Stratford has been partaking in the local football (soccer) league since 1963. Between 1972 and 1981, Stratford Dolphins won eight straight premierships and 17th in
2016. Stratford has won the Crad Evans Shield (the premiership winners of the Cairns and Townsville leagues playoff for the Shield) more than any other club. SDFC has a very proud history of football talents coming up through the club. SDFC has over 400 members ranging from junior boys and girls to senior men and women. These juniors and seniors play every weekend from February to October. Stratford has strong ties with the local community and values fair play football as well as respect for the game, players, officials, and spectators. Since 2015, Stratford Dolphins have been supporting charities such as Cancer Council Queensland, McDonalds House, Pink Ribbon as well sending kits and soccer balls to football clubs in Nepal and PNG. SDFC also sponsors the Children Police Safety hand book which is provided to all primary schools within Cairns Region. SDFC has a hardworking committee to ensure the club is always moving forward.
