Life is full of crossroads.
About five years ago, I was given the opportunity to step into the unknown and move to Cairns, QLD, for a BJJ/MMA coaching role. I had no idea what to expect, but what followed was nothing short of incredible. I met some truly amazing people, helped develop talented BJJ athletes, and built what I hope are lifelong friendships along the way.
Coaching here has been an absolute privilege.
Now, due to some personal circumstances and health challenges, life has presented me with a new crossroad β one I didnβt quite choose, but one I have to face nonetheless. So, for now, itβs time to step away, focus on healing, and begin the process of rebuilding.
With that, No Gi Jiu Jitsu Cairns will be closing its doors β but it will never be forgotten.
To every student who stepped onto the mats with me: thank you. Whether you were with us for one session or years, it was an honour to share that space with you. I genuinely hope you all keep pushing forward β on and off the mats β and continue to grow as martial artists and as people. Keep kicking ass.
The photo below is from my last class in Cairns, where I had the joy of awarding some new ranks β an emotional but proud moment. Massive thanks to Cairns Judo Club for allowing us to use their space one last time. Your support means the world.
This isnβt goodbye forever β just for now. Hope to see many of you again somewhere down the road.
