Saturday night had some of the state's best fights and new champions crowned on some amazing shows.
But for our little fight club, on a local club show, it was as important as a world title fight. For a few reasons.
To be back on the local scene after all our outings last year were all away trips.
Toze having his first fight and celebrating his dedication and amazing fitness transformation.
Toze has been a pleasure to train, he is the most humble and polite kid I've had the pleasure of training and his dedication and discipline is second to none.
The lad walked in to PMT in the high 80s and now sits fit and strong at 63kg. He's a real life fitness transformation story.
OK, the fight.
The fight was agreed at 65kg. Toze has stuck to his nutrition plan and was 63 at weigh in and healthy and strong. Next fight has to be 60-61 I'd say.
Tbh the fight went exactly how I thought it would but his opponent showed an immense amount of grit and heart to stay in there as long as he did. He took some big shots and kept his composure, he should be proud of himself, we are keen to see him fight again.
Toze put an 8 count on him within the first 30 seconds but that didn't slow his opponent down.
The fight continued until the referee called it off after a big punch combination, leaving the ref no choice but to stop the fight. Safety first always.
Congratulations to Toze on his win and well done to Mikey for giving it his all. Both boys can hold their heads high today.
A special thanks to all the PMT team for helping prep Toze for his first fight and keeping that amazing vibe and camaraderie alive that makes PMT what it is.
The support from family and friends for toze was next level. It's what we are all about. π€π
