STANDARD SCOPE RINGS.

Armaments by Design manufactures high quality and high accuracy dovetail and PIC/NATO rail mount scope rings in a range of scope tube sizes and mount heights.

Our PIC/NATO rings are machined to close tolerances so that they will fit any standard rail manufactured to Picatinny MIL-STD-1913 or the NATO Stanag 4694 standard. We also manufacture direct mount scope rings to fit our AbD actions.

These items are produced for the discerning shooter who is looking for a high end bench rest and long range target shooting quality product with no compromise.

All our scope rings and rails are fully CNC machined from 7050 series high strength aluminium stock and are not cast, forged or extruded as those manufacturing methods do not offer the required degree of accuracy that we believe is essential for these products. The scope rings are assembled with high tensile black finish socket head cap screws, not Torx head screws.

Scope ring pairs are available as a plain pair or with a level vial fitted to one ring. These rings can be mounted on the right or left side of the action and at the front or rear position.

We will also offer them in three finishes, polished aluminium, matt black and drab olive green when our stock arrives back from anodising shortly.

NEW SINGLE SHOT TARGET ACTIONS DESIGNED and MANUFACTURED IN AUSTRALIA SPECIFICALLY FOR BENCH REST and F CLASS TARGET SHOOTING.

The team at Armaments by Design in Cairns have now completed almost three years of design, development and proof testing of two new single shot rifle actions for the target shooting market in Australia. This has been a mammoth effort involving many hundreds of manhours of design, manufacturing and proof testing.

Along with these actions, we have designed and manufactured a range of essential accessories specifically for our actions so that you, the customer, don’t have to chase the World for the other parts necessary to build your rifle. These accessories include trigger hangers and trigger guards, bedding block and pillars to suit both actions, scope rings with and without level vials fitted in a range of scope tube diameters and heights and dovetail and PIC/NATO rails in a range of MOA heights.

Our initial release of two three lug actions has been very well received by the F Class and Target shooting market so a relatively small number of production models of each action are being manufactured right now in June, and these will be released for a period of field testing before we commence full scale commercial production. These include right and left hand bolt and single and dual port models with a range of bolt face diameters.

We anticipate this period of field testing in the hands of experienced target shooters will be a three to six month time frame, but this will depend on a number of factors and may well be shorter.

North Queensland Rifle Association (NQRA) King’s Prize Shoot

The event was held at the NQRA Hervey’s Range Shooting Complex in Townsville from 20 to 24 May 2026.

I attended the event with a display of products made by my business, Armaments by Design in Cairns, and was very impressed by the overall atmosphere and management of the event. More than 100 shooters took part across the wide range of F Class, Target Rifle and Sporter rifle events held over the five days.

There were close to 150 people on site, including men, women, and children, along with 50 or more caravans, campers, tents, and even a few four-legged companions. With mild nights, warm days, and a beautiful bush setting, it made for a very pleasant few days.

The variety of rifles on site was remarkable, and everyone was more than happy to answer questions and allow a closer look. My overall impression was of families enjoying their sport together in the company of like-minded friends.

I received strong interest and positive feedback on the products I had on display, particularly the two new single-shot target actions we have spent the past three years designing and testing, as well as the high-accuracy rifle scope mounts we have recently started manufacturing. One of our actions is designed specifically for F-Class target shooting, and a local Cairns competitor was using a brand-new rifle built on our action that had been completed just two weeks before the event. It performed extremely well, and he finished well up on the scoreboard. He was understandably very impressed with the action, its strength, and its smooth operation.

Trigger Guards

Our range of trigger guards has been expanded and is now placed on our web site and includes 9 different models.

All trigger guards and bottom metal are made from 6061-T6 Aluminium and vibratory polished after manufacture to give a very smooth polished finish.
All the trigger guards are supplied in drilled or undrilled condition so you can drill to suit the type of bolt or screw that suits your rifle.
The web site also has detailed drawings of each guard so that you can verify its suitability for your application before you order.

PRESS RELEASE May 2026

The team at Armaments by Design in Cairns have now completed almost three years of design, development and proof testing of two new single shot rifle actions for the target shooting market in Australia and across the World.

This has been a mammoth effort involving many hundreds of manhours of design, manufacturing and proof testing. We own a fully equipped CNC machine shop with all equipment required to manufacture inhouse almost every component used in a rifle action.

Manufacturing of a limited number of each action for commercial sale has commenced and the first three lug actions have now been sold in May 2026 and fitted to F Class rifles.

These rifles and an extensive range of our manufactured armament accessories will be on display at the Kings Shoot in Townsville on 22nd and 23rd of May being held at the NQRA shooting complex on Hervey’s Range Road.
