Cairns - Northern Nationals 26’

Our season kicked off at the big two weekend in a row Modified Sedan Northern Nationals up in Cairns.
We’d been slowly building up, prepping the car with minor changes from last season.

Had no expectations of setting the world on fire, reliability has been the goal and unfortunately seems we’re still chasing it. We have some decent speed at times, just need to string together some consistency so we can develop the car further!

We lost Friday night due to weather, very nearly lost Saturday as well, fortunately the weather gods cut us a break to enable the track crew to work their magic, huge credit to Wes Jenkins and his team, Brooksy and co. for never giving up. Track had character but we got the show in!

We had a limited pit crew on the second weekend so it was imperative the thing was in one piece with the fast turn around between races. (We’re always looking for new pit crew members)

Had a heat win and a couple of solid runs in the heats to follow, started the feature race from 7th, was a battle for survival with a car not suited to the conditions, was running 5th and on a restart a something broke in the front and the thing tried throwing itself into the turn 1 wall, I kept circulating but it just deteriorated. DNF - That was all she wrote.

We didnt have the spares inventory to patch it up but being a small team it is what it is, need to shake that money tree. 😁

Massive shout out to the fans who came over and picked up some merch, it means an awful lot and every cent goes straight into the car. 🙏🏻

We’re out, more broken stuff, broke a right front shock while running 5th in the feature. Real shame as the thing was up and about finally.

Had a win a 4th and a 5th in the heats I think.

We’ll still be in the pits after the meeting, come over for a chat grab a shirt, sticker or hero card.

Northern Nationals 2026

You know the old saying ‘Murphy’s law’, Anything that can go wrong will? First weekend of the Northern nationals for us was just that! Apologies for the lack of updates, it was full on.

Only finished one heat race over the whole two nights, cut down tyres, throwing belts, broken shock mounts, battery, ignition issues, that was just on track! Haven’t even mentioned the truck problems on our way home this morning. That’s a tale for another time.

We were chasing our backsides the whole time with a limited but dedicate crew, a fast turn around between heat races really wasn’t working in our favour.

We made it out for the feature on night one, started dead last passed a heap of cars, it was elbows up fast until it wasn’t! That’s racing, it’ll keep kicking you in the balls.

Huge shout out to Ratcoon Grafix for the amazing signage on the racecar, completely knocked it out of the park as always. My apologies for tearing it up!

We’ll regroup, thrash away to get things in order for this weekend, will be dependant on some parts arriving but fingers crossed we can turn this around soon enough!
