Oh I love it when clients listen and the therefore reap the rewards. A client come in today that gets remedial massage and I’ve been treating her every few weeks and I’ve programmed her exercises and focused on a holistic approach.
You see, pain is very complex. Pain is not just determined by the injury or the chronic condition someone may live with. Pain can heighten when stressed, poor sleep, poor nutrition, and other lifestyle factors.
My client was over training, getting poor sleep and high stress. So not only did we do the massage, but we added some exercises into her routine to help with her lower back, but I also told her she needs to cut back on the volume of training she was doing and prioritise her sleep.
She came in today and sleep has improved greatly, she has lowered her volume in the gym, has been doing the exercises I programmed her and low and behold she has minimal pain and her body is moving well.
I am so incredibly proud of her and happy that she has implemented everything I told her to focus on.
Oh I love my job!! Super super rewarding!!! If you’re not focusing on prioritising sleep, movement, regressing volume or focusing on other important lifestyle factors then it may take longer to manage your pain and flare ups.
As always, each person is different but make sure you’re focusing on those things to help manage your condition.
