How I went from listing my tiny single bedroom apartment in Hong Kong to managing a luxury accommodation property in the Byron Bay hinterland with a multiple 4 figure nightly rate 🥂
2017 — when I first listed my tiny single bedroom in my Hong Kong apartment, I had NO idea what I was doing. I was simply looking to make some extra income. I posted 8 photos, wrote a very short description, listed my room, and hoped for the best. I hosted 11 guests in 3 months and made $1,157.84. That experience taught me A LOT 😅
2022 — when we listed our shipping container home while we were away travelling, Dan and I knew the importance of capturing high-quality photos, doing market research, and under promising (starting with a lower nightly rate) and over delivering (providing guests with an unforgettable experience). This was when we started taking hosting more seriously and it paid off 💸
2024 — there was certainly a bit of luck involved in landing our roles as Property Managers of the luxury accommodation in the Byron Bay hinterland, with a nightly rate of multiple 4 figures. Guests at the property we manage expect a higher level of service and exceptional experiences and delivering on this has taught me so much about how provide guests with an unforgettable experience ✨
