Everyone sucks at the beginning. It's part of the learning process. Some less than others but regardless we all start off falling, learning, trying again and again.

But everytime this happens you learn more, you build resilience and you get better at it.

This is for all areas of life - don't quit because you're no good at it or you feel like you can't do it.

You can and you will. The learning stage will be uncomfortable and hard at times. But we can promise it will be worth it. Everyone has been a beginner at something in their lives.

That is your growth and skill building. They say you only fail when you quit- so don't quit. πŸ’™

Minestrone Soup 🍲 πŸ˜‹

One of the great things about home made minestrone (aside from all the amazing veg packed into it) is the FIBRE!

pasta, veg and beans = fibre feast! If you work with a nutrition coach you have probably been told 1000 x how good fibre is and to eat more... but why?

Dietary fiber is the parts of plant foods your body can't digest or absorb.

Unlike fats, proteins or carbohydrates β€” which your body breaks down and absorbs β€” fiber isn't digested by your body. Instead, it passes relatively intact through your stomach, small intestine and colon and out of your body.

Fibre will promote the movement of material through your digestive system and also helps your body absorb vital nutrients. Fibre is great for digestion and regulating bowel movements, you should be having regular bowel movements 1-3 times a day and it should be solid but soft .

Our easiest sources of fibre include

Wholewheat
Berries
Chia seeds
Fruit
Oats
Veges

We want to aim for at least 25g a day. BUT if you are below this work slowly, adding fibre too fast can lead to bloating, gas and not so great bowel movements. Increase slowly and get plenty of water in πŸ™Œ

Positivity is powerful ✨️

Our thoughts are so powerful they create our life path... or at least how we view our life path.

If we always see the bad in situations then everything is going to feel bad.

Now I'm not saying you have to always look on the bright side of things - all feelings are valid and I feel too often we are told to only be positive and happy - being sad and angry has its place in a healthy mindset

However - next time you seem to have negative after negative and life just can't give you a break. Its almost like the world is out to get you... stop and check your mindset. Could you adjust any thoughts? Are there any positives? Is it really that bad or can it be fixed?

Try and find something good in every situation- it's not as hard as you think

Rules for long term success around nutrition πŸ€“

πŸ‘ keep it simple - going from 0-100 instantly will cause burn out and frustration, leading to quitting. Small simple changes will be easier to maintain and keep you feeling accomplished rather than changing it all, finding its unsustainable and then feeling like you failed.

πŸ‘ be in it for the long game - don't set an end date. Food is until we die, you can't just reach October 23rd and then stop eating because you reached the end of your goal.

πŸ‘ because it's a long game don't restrict foods you will never be able to give up. Love your monthly wine night with friends - keep it. Movie nights with the kids with some popcorn and choccy - keep it. We can still enjoy life by making small changes

πŸ‘ set a performance goal. Take the focus away from the scale or your shorts fitting. Focus on how your body moves and the progress it makes. They are pretty amazing things our bodies

πŸ‘ it's not just about nutrition. How's your stress, sleep, recovery, relationships, work balance? These all feed into your goals. Even if you don't realise it.

πŸ‘ take the time to learn. Understanding why you do something will help you stick to it. If you follow blindly you are more likely to just stop doing it. Learn the benefits to eating fibre, why is drinking alcohol every day detrimental to our health. Educate yourself.

Does the above mean you'll be a size 8 with washboard abs? Probably not, BUT you'll be healthier and happier mentally and physically πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

Stop looking for a new diet - you already have a diet. It just might need some tweaking πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

The chances of long term success using your current diet and making minor changes is higher than using from diet to diet hoping one will "click" with you.

22.3 .... whose excited?

According to my msgs this morning not many people πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

My tips -

Take each movement at a time. Don't think about thrusters while you're doing pull ups (this tip is aimed at myself πŸ™ƒ)

Break the movements up before you fail, the less time resting the faster you'll be.

Bonds bloody comfy un**es. ladies - google it and buy them πŸ˜‚ there is a lot of skipping

Good luck and enjoy the last open workout πŸŽ‰βοΈ

Health isnt always about losing weight or building muscle.

Often it's reclaiming a healthy relationship with food and clients giving themselves permission to enjoy all foods without guilt or restriction.

A whole generation grew up in the belief that food is bad, thin is in, starving yourself got results and carbs are the enemy. That's a whole lot of damage that needs to be undone.

The great news is that it can be undone. People will eat food until the day they die so everyday is a chance to take back control of your "diet" (the kinds of food that a person habitually eats.) and the chance to use food not only for physical health and fuel but also for social and emotional health.

What food rules did you grow up with and have carried into adulthood?

International women's day 🌏

I never used to consider myself a feminist or promoter of "female empowerment" - but I am.

I am proud to be strong and to be surrounded by other strong females. That I continuously break the mould on what females should do and shouldn't be.

While having 1 day to recognise and celebrate feminism and empowerment is great, we need to being living this everyday and showing up when it matters most.

Juggling work, passion projects, parenting, training and everything else - is no easy feat and something that is regularly shrugged off or accepted as part of a females role. We really do do it all

Being female is a gift not a burden πŸ’ͺ

Exercise isn't always about drowning in sweat and waking up sore the next day

⭐️ it's about mental health
⭐️ it's about connecting with yourself and having some quality you time
⭐️it's about longevity and being healthy as you age

If you didn't feel like going to the gym today - that's ok. Do some stretching or go for a walk. Turn down the intensity and just enjoy the movement πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈβ€
