Rules for long term success around nutrition π€
π keep it simple - going from 0-100 instantly will cause burn out and frustration, leading to quitting. Small simple changes will be easier to maintain and keep you feeling accomplished rather than changing it all, finding its unsustainable and then feeling like you failed.
π be in it for the long game - don't set an end date. Food is until we die, you can't just reach October 23rd and then stop eating because you reached the end of your goal.
π because it's a long game don't restrict foods you will never be able to give up. Love your monthly wine night with friends - keep it. Movie nights with the kids with some popcorn and choccy - keep it. We can still enjoy life by making small changes
π set a performance goal. Take the focus away from the scale or your shorts fitting. Focus on how your body moves and the progress it makes. They are pretty amazing things our bodies
π it's not just about nutrition. How's your stress, sleep, recovery, relationships, work balance? These all feed into your goals. Even if you don't realise it.
π take the time to learn. Understanding why you do something will help you stick to it. If you follow blindly you are more likely to just stop doing it. Learn the benefits to eating fibre, why is drinking alcohol every day detrimental to our health. Educate yourself.
Does the above mean you'll be a size 8 with washboard abs? Probably not, BUT you'll be healthier and happier mentally and physically π€·ββοΈ
