Yesterday was the end of season lunch for the Byford Ladies.
What a great day they had at Avocados in Kelmscott.
The food was excellent no complaints there , lots of laughs , reminiscing about the season just gone.

Nature provided the best weather on Tuesday for the Annual Ladies Gala Day at Byford (held as always with the great support of the Bendigo Bank). 16 teams came together to enjoy a great day of competition starting with much hilarity with who could get closest to the "Spider". Spectators were enthralled watching the skills of the players, some incredible shots, lots of encouragement & lots of laughter. It was a colourful event with players in colourful uniforms & playing with even more colourful bowls.
As always an awesome main course lunch was served to the ladies by the Country Club together with an equally awesome dessert at the completion of the games which received many complements from all the ladies. A big thank you to Ray Carey & all his staff.
Lauris as always organised & made sure the day ran well supported & helped by many of the Byford Lawn Bowls ladies.
Much hilarity was enjoyed by all with the skit organised by Bernice on who would win the Table Prize. What's next year Bernice?
There were a lot of Raffle Prizes organised & displayed by Marcia & of course many wanted the basket of Easter Eggs which was eagerly snapped up by the first winner.
A big thank you to all the Byford Ladies that assisted on the day, you are too many to name individually

The finals of the Drawn Pairs competition concluded with eight ladies competing for the top spot. Lauris and Barbara's team was against Bernice and Toni, resulting in an intensely competitive match where Bernice and Toni secured the major finals game, relegating Lauri's and Barbara to the runner-up position. The plate competition, played between Mavis and Marcia versus Thelma and Nonnie, proved to be an equally nail-biting affair, with the bowls frequently striking the jack in the heat of the day. Marcia and Mavis emerged claiming the Plate winner's spot, while Thelma and Nonnie secured the runner-up spot.
Check out the scoreboards half way through , which quickly change the other way up and down.
Congratulations are extended to all participants and supporters on a game well played.

The Ladies' Drawn Triples finals took place yesterday, featuring a round robin format due to the high number of participants. The winning team was determined by the number of games played and points scored. With outstanding bowls from all teams, the competition concluded on a high note. Mavis England, Anne Bartlett, and Tracy Posa emerged as the winners, followed closely by the runners-up Lauris Gibb, Tanya Dorrington, and Vicki Gibbons. The ladies' team delivered an outstanding performance in the Championship Fours tournament. Due to the considerable number of participating members, a round-robin format was adopted, where every team competed against each other, and the team with the highest points emerged as the winner, followed by the runner-up.

Bernice, Jannie, Nonnie, and Elaine showcased exceptional skill accumulating the highest points and securing the championship title for 2026.

The runner-up team, comprising Lauris, Tanya ,Jenni, and Toni, also demonstrated impressive teamwork. A big thank you to all participants for their commendable efforts.

The Championship Pairs finals took place over the weekend, featuring an outstanding display of skill and exceptional bowl placements.
The event was particularly thrilling, with the Plate competition culminating in a tie-break.

The major winners were Les Harris and Darryl Lampitoc, while Greg McDonald and Richard Kopaz finished as runners-up. Additionally, Ric Poutney and Ray Bartlett claimed the Plate winner title, with Steve Harris and James Todd finishing second.

The Championship Singles finals, encompassing both Major and Plate, reached new heights last night, showcasing exceptional skill and determination that left everyone in awe.
The matches were amazing , with jaw-dropping shots and bowls precision-targeting the jack, keeping everyone on the edge of their seats.
All four competitors demonstrated champion-level bowling each deserving of victory.

In the end, Graham Norris emerged as our 2026 Singles Champion, delivering a standout performance; Rick Buckle was an exemplary runner-up, pushing the limits with his impressive game.
Meanwhile, Les Harris and Phill Collins engaged in a riveting plate competition, where Les's seasoned expertise was matched by Phill's spirited newcomer energy, ultimately securing the plate win, with Phill as runner-up.
Kudos to all participants for their brilliant displays.
A huge thank you to our diligent scorers for a great job.

The Novice Championship took place last week, featuring an outstanding display of skill, with the team bowling exceptionally well throughout. Each end showcased remarkable bowls, with the players demonstrating a champion-like demeanor. The ladies played the finals of the triples championships yesterday and what great games they were , both Major & Plate teams were so close all the way with only one or 2 points between them, with some really amazing bowls played.

Lauris, Tanya and Toni played against Ann B, Jenni and Maxine for the Major with Lauris team taking the Championship.

In the plate we had Marie, Thelma and Trish against , Tracy, Marcia and Marilyn with Marie’s team winner the plate championship
