Melanie McDaniel ; the Yoga teacher at "OM"Time Yoga Studio; completed her Yoga Teacher Training in Goa, India at Himalaya Yoga Valley. After 25 years of practicing Yoga, this brought an adult life long dream, to fruition. Previous years of working and training in the Fitness Industry has given Melanie a deep foundation in physiology and anatomy, a real compliment to teaching Yoga. Her ongoing thi
rst for Spirituality gives Melanie a deep understanding of Yoga philosophy, pranayama, meditation, chanting, charkras & kriyas. Melanie brings all of this and more, to her students in each class, through her love of yoga! Moving forward to 2023, we've all gone through a multitude of changes and challenges with COVID, Vaccines and many other things going on in the world. My strength to get me through the past 4.5 years since I got diagnosed with Multiple myeloma - cancer in the blood in the bone marrow has been teaching Yoga. I went through a Stem cell transplant August 2020, its our main promise of Remission, for any Myeloma patient, This didn't happen for me and never has, regardless of countless treatments, which all brought their own side effects to my body and my life. I'm often quite private about my diagnosis, after all to show up as a 2cm hole in my L1 Vertebrae and not be able to walk, and to be still misdiagnosed was difficult to live with. Once diagnosed after taking myself off to a neuro surgeon and being told "no I can't fix what you have" the neon sign lit up the cancer. I was then sent off to Radiation which I booked myself in for - the medical system wasn't there for me, I had 3 weeks of Radiation and then went to Bali to teach 2 Yoga Retreats, and then to return to the last 3 weeks of Radiation. TBH this story is extremely long and not necessary you know all the gory details, of course COVID interrupted my treatment because having a Stem cell transplant takes you to the brink of death, killing all your bone marrow in hope it would grow back in remission, wasn't safe to put us through this ordeal so the Transplant unit was closed, only to keep me on chemo and steroids another 5 months until 20 Aug 2020. I have continued to teach Yoga, being the love of my life, along with my husband and my 2 sons and this gives me a strength to show up no matter what. I have a very compassionate, empathetic heart to guide you and give you whatever you need from a Yoga practice. And I just wanted to tell you that, if you are uncertain that my teachings will challenge you enough, then my only recommendation is to come and give it a try. For most of us in this day and age we need more love and compassion and less striving in our lives. All I can say is, come and try a class and know you can have what you need from your practice. Love, light and harmony always Mel xx
