Western Australian Speed Boat Club

WASBC is the state's premier boat racing club, racing every 2nd Sunday of the month from November to June. Junior classes start from as young as 10 years old.

The Western Australian Speed Boat Club, has been part of the Perth boating scene since the club was formed, in 1949. We are currently the only active Boat Racing club in Western Australia and are aligned with the Australian Power Boat Association as well as the Department of Sport and Recreation. The club caters for several classes of race boats to accommodate all ages and budgets. The club currently races 15hp juniors and seniors, 25hp Supersports, F1, F2 and F3 Tunnels boats, 5.7 litre (LS1) and 6.0 litre displacements. (inboard boats)
Speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour (160 kilometers per hour) are regularly attained by the top boats. Race meetings are held on the second Sunday of the month from November to June, at the Burswood Water Sports Centre. The club races at Lake Towerrinning annually and recently held its first meeting on Lake Dumbleyung, home to Donald Campbell’s 1964 world water speed record. The club previously raced at several locations around Perth including Matilda Bay (Crawley), Coode Street (South Perth) and at Heirisson Island before moving to our current location, that is arguably the best race course in Australia. Spectators are most welcome to come along and watch some fast and exciting circuit boat racing, right on the doorstep of the city. Bring your chair, blanket and picnic basket or alternatively, utilise our BBQ, Club and Bar facilities and enjoy an exciting day's entertainment with your family and friends. An awesome weekend for racing last weekend. Awesome job to all of our drivers as always putting on show with very close results in all classes.
A massive thank you to Callum who took these photos for us, and to everyone who helped make the day run smoothly. Can’t wait to see everyone down at the river next month!!!

After a nice break over Christmas and New Years our racers are ready to roar for the first meeting on 2026!!!
Can’t wait to see everyone down at the rivers edge for a day of awesome racing, heaps of fun for the whole family and as always our BBQ with the worlds best burgers and hot dogs. The bar will be open to crush any thirst that may come your way, soft drinks for the little ones and some hard options for the adults that are still kids at heart.
Racing starts at 10am so come on down and have some fun!!!!

Not Only will event feature action packed racing it’s also a special day for the Club, Judith Stannard and family, Our Members and Friends as we celebrate the life of a True Champion, Esteemed Gentleman and Western Australia’s own 12 time
Australian National Title Winner
Murray Stannard.

The West Australian Speed Boat Club has very fond memories of Murray and was able to host one of the most desirable events in the national calendar in 2023 being
The Stannard Cup 🏆 which is the Australian Open Unlimited Championship.

Racing Starts 10.30am
Minute Silence 12.30 followed by the Spreading of the Ashes.

At the conclusion of Racing the Members Bar will be open to host a toast.

Our racers were ready as ever going into our first race meet of the season down at Lake Towerrinning last weekend with 3 trophy races to fight for.

Starting us off with 4 laps of the triangle course was the Junior Towerrinning Cup, taking home 1st place was young Luke starting his first full season off with a ripper win, taking home 2nd place was Jamie and Vincent taking home 3rd place. Well done to all the young racers in your junior class on your first race meet down at the lake!

Following the Junior cup we had the Silver Towerrinning Cup, consisting of 3 laps of the long championship course our 25hp racers were off! Taking home 1st place in his hard to beat red tunnel was Neil, 2nd place going to Lenny and 3rd to Phoebe.

Last but not least we finish our day off with the Gold Towerrinning Cup also consisting of 3 laps of the long championship course our 95mph and Macca in the F1 put on a show you don’t want to miss! Taking home 1st place in style was Peter, followed closely by Anthony in 2nd and Rob. M in 3rd place.

Special shoutout to Vincent who won the first race he ever participated in, awesome start to your racing career can’t wait to see what else you bring for us!

As always massive thank you to everyone that helped out on the day to make it all happen, and to Graham and the crew at Lakeside camping allowing us to race down at the lake.

Our drivers are ready to bring the thunder down under with our first race meet of the season down at Lake Towerrinning!! With the silver and gold Towerrinning cup up for grabs, everyone is ready for an adrenaline filled weekend down at the lake. Racing commences at 10am Sunday the 26th of October can wait to see you down

‼️CALLING ALL JUNIOR RACERS‼️

This Saturday is your dunk test!!! This is a mandatory test to teach you what need to happen IF you end up in the water, you cannot race without doing this test.
If you are unable to make it this weekend please get in contact with your class captain Russell, on 0437 885 775, to organise another time to do it.
