Today's post comes from a shopping centre carpark. Why? Because when driving back to work in the evening you ponder as to what to share that evening and when it comes to you it has to be shared as soon as possible.
So lets call it Monday motivation, and its motivation because I've hit a tough time recently and today really helped me so I want it to help you... Persistence. What is it to you?
Today was squat day, felt shocking going into training. Hips and ankles felt tight, sore and it did not feel like today was a PB day even though it was down to be, however I persisted, lets see what I could do.
Anyway as the weights got heavier I ended up in personal best territory somehow in what seemed like no time at all (45 mins later). 137.5kg was the goal, crushed it, pushed beyond and attempted 140kg. Small increase but mentally I saw what seemed like 6 very large 20kg plates on that barbell. It happened, so in my excitement I reached for my camera and wanted to film myself doing it. It didn't happen, ended up flat on my ass. Could've given up and yeah usually would call it a day but I don't know why today I thought nope lets give it another crack, thank god I did because now I can sit proud and watch what I did.
Today was a realisation that yeah you aren't going to go into every session feeling 100% and training can feel like a drag but you work with what you got and you'll surprise yourself if you persist on and just do it. You may be at the end and it can seem easier to pack up but pursue that goal a little further and you might just get it and feel damn good about yourself too.
Go try it for yourself whether it be in the gym, on the track, in the office or even at home and start the week off kicking goals. Happy Monday guys!
