We did it! 🐉🚣‍♀️

Ord River Marathon 2026

55km of paddling through incredible scenery, exciting conditions, and pure magic.

Our day started bright and early, hitting the road at 4:30am. Three busloads of excited paddlers and support crews made the journey to Lake Argyle, ready for an unforgettable adventure.

After coffee and breakfast, it was time to head to the boats—and then the real fun began!

We launched straight into the rapids to start our journey down the mighty Ord River. Eight dragon boats, along with a fleet of support boats, cruised and drifted through the quieter sections before navigating the rapids under Terry’s expert guidance, powering our way downstream.

Along the route, we enjoyed several well-earned stops for refreshments and a chance to stretch the legs—breaks that were definitely appreciated!

The final stretch into Lily Lagoon was a welcome sight, and naturally, we turned it into a race, sprinting the last 200 metres to reach the pontoon first!

What an incredible day, and what an incredible team. We couldn't be prouder of everyone's effort, determination, and spirit.

A huge thank you to all our supporters and to the Ord River Paddlers for helping make this amazing event possible.

The Ord River Marathon is almost here! 🎉

After many months of planning and preparation, tomorrow is finally the big day.

We've been so warmly welcomed by the Ord River Paddlers and the Miriwoong Elders, and we're incredibly grateful.

We're as ready as we can be and can't wait to get out on the water. Our boats are waiting for us

Now to try and get some sleep before our 4:30am pickup... although that's easier said than done with all this excitement! 😃🐉🐲🛶

Today I took the opportunity to have a paddle with the wonderful Robinvale crew, sweeping for them. We paddled to Phil’s Bend and visited Susan Mattschoss, Lena C***s and their friends. A lovely quick catchup.

Starting the weekend with another Come & Try session, we had 2 boats on the water 🛶🛶🐉
Our newbies have enjoyed the sessions, and we hope we have given them a wonderful experience that inspires them to join our incredible club 😃🐲

Then our Ord River crew headed off on their last endurance training session before leaving for Kununurra. Most are making the trek by road, some have already left. All will be meeting in Kununurra for the 55km marathon Sunday 7th June

The boat was given a good wash then our reward…..coffee, scones & cake 😋
We are very fortunate to have our beautiful river to paddle on, and to share it with the majestic paddleboats PV Rothbury & PV Mundoo

2 hours of consistent paddling followed by a cooked breakfast

The Ord River marathon is getting closer so we have upped our endurance training
With the worst of the rain over, we headed up river for a 90min paddle, keeping a consistent stroke rate & practicing swapping seats with our bench buddies while the rest of the crew kept paddling
Some were graceful, and some - not so graceful. Which lead to plenty of laughs!
A wonderful morning had by all, and the sun came out as we finished, leading into a beautiful day

Today we welcomed Meaghan, Justin, Sharon & Angela to join us for their first Come & Try session

The weather was mild, but the rain threatened - fortunately we only had a couple of sprinkles while we were out on the water

Our newbies quickly picked up the basics and everyone had a great time
We look forward to them joining us again next Saturday

It’s wonderful to introduce new people to our incredible sport
Plus, the coffee afterwards is pretty good too!
