Coaches Awards for Rad Humans

Two coaches awards were celebrated last night giving these humans the recognition they have earned.

ThumpHers award in recognition of her speedy track repairs & commitment to the task across all three games following her own on Saturday. A social human who despite initial hesitation stuck it out to the end. Recognition from visiting official Sparky on your efforts & we see you too Thump. Thank you 🤩

Demolition has been awarded for his positive vibes, & upholding our league values during our junior game on Saturday. Demolition is working hard towards level 3, and his attitude & ability on Saturday to support our newer humans is a huge part of becoming emotionally ready for the next steps. Keep working hard Dem we are super proud of you.

At last nights training we celebrated these two superstars levelling up!

Kori has returned to skating like a duck to water quickly regaining Level 1. Kori is an impressive skater & we are excited to see their journey take off. Congratz Kori ⭐️

Bearemy has worked hard this year on & off track from studying game play & rules, learning & delivering fancy tech set ups & being our newest Junior Roller Derby Coach.

There was a short time Bearemys goal was to join to skate alongside his children and learn to ref…. However the addiction is real and we were VERY pumped to award Bearemy this week with his Green Star - clearing him for full contact gameplay. Congratz Bearemy ! Welcome to a life on the road 😂💚 🚙 🛼

Mildura Roller Derby League is building strong in regional Victoria.

It’s all a blur…. But I do know it was an epic day of derby at our Roller Derby Rumble on Saturday.

Across four games, we showcased everything that makes roller derby such an amazing sport right here in regional Victoria, in sunny Mildura. From our tiniest skaters taking to the track and representing the future of roller derby, through to the hard-hitting action of our headliner between Murder City Roller Derby’s Homicidolls and Dragon City Roller Derby’s Chiko Rollers—it was a day packed with passion, skill and community.

Murder City & Dragon City THANK YOU for travelling to play here in Mildura. We are pretty honoured to have been able to host the Homicidolls first interstate travel team bout since 2018 against our great friends, the formidable Chiko Rollers. Showcasing our sport here at home was thrilling -thank you for helping make that happen! What a game, what a day!

Bringing it back to the beginning however we started the day with our incredible juniors - oh our hearts 💕
These humans are a blast, and seeing them play is such a vibe!

Next up the Wonderland MisFits (Open gender pot luck) hit the track taking on Dragon City Roller Derby’s Steam Rollers. Wowzers this was fun to ref! Huge hits, fast packs & high vibes all game! Steam Rollers took the win but MisFits didn’t make it easy! Can you spot our TRV teamies all the way from Gippsland? Thank you for making the epic roadie to be here Cow & Shrek!

Now… seasoned officials out there, how many of you have experienced an overtime jam? Well…Our senior mod-con game ended with not one, but two overtime jams. Holly smackers that was exciting!

4 games means lots of official roles to fill. A very special shout-out goes to all of our visiting officials, especially Sarge and Sparky from Adelaide Roller Derby. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, experience and genuine love of the game.

First down the rabbit hole are our incredible junior teams – the Door Mouse Dashers and the TeaPot Terrors!

These young skaters may be small, but don’t let that fool you. They’ll be bringing fearless jams, clever teamwork, growing confidence, and plenty of derby magic to the track.

We’re also thrilled to welcome our special guest skaters:
✨ Slambulance, travelling all the way from Bendigo to skate with the Door Mouse Dashers.
✨ Sassy B also from Dragon City Roller Derby , joining the TeaPot Terrors.

This weekend one of our own is rolling into Sydney to trial for Team Australia Junior Roller Derby, and we couldn’t be prouder!

Moovit is so much more than an incredible skater. They’re a valued member of our league, a fantastic junior coach, a supportive teammate and someone who brings positivity, encouragement and great vibes to every training and every game.

You’ve worked incredibly hard for this opportunity, and no matter what happens this weekend, you’ve already achieved something amazing. Thank you for representing our league and our regional roller derby community with pride.

Go out there, skate your heart out, have fun and show them what regional grit looks like.
