Burnside Heights Football Club The Bears are a family friendly Aussie Rules club with Junior Boys and Girls, and Senior Men’s and Women’s teams.

Home of the Burnside Heights Football Club and 'Burnie the Bear'! The Bears were formed in 2011 and competed in the EDFL for the first time in 2012 at junior level. In 2014 the Bears fielded Senior Men’s teams for the first time and since 2018 we have fielded a Senior Women’s team also. The Bears are a true community based club with a strong emphasis on junior development. Some of the Bears teams

and players accomplishments over the past few years include;

- Over half our junior teams making finals for 2 years in succession
- 6 Junior players winning EDFL Best & Fairest
- 9 Junior players winning EDFL Runners Up Awards
- 4 Junior coaches being finalists in the Western Region Coach of the Year Awards
- Junior Youth Coach of the Year
- Under 18 Division 2 EDFL Best & Fairest
- Under 14 Premiership 2015
- Under 10 Premiership 2015
- Under 13 Premiership 2017
- Under 13 Premiership 2018
- Under 16 Premiership 2021

In 2018 our Senior Women’s team were Premier Division Grand Finalists and in 2019 our Senior Men’s team played off in the Division 2 Preliminary Final. In 2021 the Bears will be celebrating our 10th Year.

📢 JUNIOR COACHING OPPORTUNITIES - 2027 SEASON

The Burnside Heights Football Club is seeking Expressions of Interest for Junior Coaching positions for the 2027 season across our mixed, boys and girls football programs.

With teams anticipated across all junior age groups, we welcome applications from both internal and external candidates who are passionate about developing young footballers and creating positive sporting experiences.

🙋🏽‍♀️🙋‍♂️Whether you're an experienced coach, a current player looking to give back, or someone eager to begin your coaching journey, we'd love to hear from you.

Our junior coaches play an important role in developing not only football skills, but also confidence, teamwork, respect and a lifelong love of the game.

Applicants must:
- Be 16 years of age or older
- Hold, or be willing to obtain, the appropriate AFL Coaching Accreditation
- Hold, or be willing to obtain, a current Working With Children Check
- The Club will provide support and guidance to assist successful applicants in meeting these requirements.

THE FOUNDATION HAS BEEN BUILT 🐻💙🧡

The Under 18.5 Men’s season came to an end yesterday with a tough Elimination Final loss.

The result hurts. No one involved wanted the season to finish this way.

But when the dust settles, these young men should hold their heads incredibly high.

They have given the Club so much to be proud of, representing the Bears with pride, commitment, resilience and belief and setting a new standard for Men’s Football at the Club.

This team made history:

🏆 Our first-ever Senior Men’s Division 1 team
🏆 Our first-ever Men’s Division 1 Finals victory
🏆 A group that has established a new benchmark for development, dedication and culture

A huge thank you to Liam and his incredibly dedicated coaching team. Your commitment to developing these young men, building a strong culture and creating opportunities for the next generation has been outstanding.

This has been more than one season. It is the result of years of development and investment, and another important step in building the future of Bears Men’s Football.

These young men have shown our younger players what is possible. They have shown what it means to earn the jumper, work for each other and represent something bigger than yourselves.

The foundation continues to grow.

To every player, coach, team manager, volunteer and supporter involved — thank you for everything you have given to the Bears.

And to the Bears Army — once again, you turned up in massive numbers yesterday. Your belief, your noise and your support means everything.

Yesterday was not the end of the journey.

The future is bright.
