We’re proud to once again partner with Carly Grey from Krakani Creations for the 2026 Strait Link Burnie 10.
Carly has created the beautiful backing artwork for our participant bibs and has also shared the meaning and story behind the artwork that every participant will proudly wear on event day.
This artwork tells the story of connection, journey, and remembrance.
The outline of Burnie is surrounded by 42 footprints, marking the 42 years since the event. Each footprint represents the ongoing journey of remembrance and leads inward to the Emu River, symbolising the deep connection between people, place, and Country.
Within the river are 10 meeting places, inspired by traditional petroglyph shapes and filled with journey lines, representing gathering, knowledge, and the strength of community. Along these pathways, 42 people are shown journeying together, reflecting unity and shared history.
In the background are nine yarning circles, each containing nine people. The number nine represents the nine traditional Aboriginal Nations of lutruwita/Tasmania before European settlement, honouring the enduring connection between the First Peoples of this land, their ancestors, and Aboriginal communities today.
Every element of this piece has been carefully chosen to acknowledge the past, celebrate resilience, and recognise the continuing cultural connections that remain strong across Country.
