The Barclay Cup is more than a tournament—it’s a celebration of women’s baseball, held in honour of trailblazer Jacinda Barclay.

A national competition that encourages participation, player development and opens pathways for our female athletes, our Queensland athletes soak up every opportunity to hone their skills and develop as whole athletes.

2025 Assistant Coach, Bella Pickford said,

“They leaned into learning—every drill, every talk, every challenge. Their willingness to try new things and back their teammates made the biggest difference. They’ll take these tools into club ball and come back even better.”

This year we're off to Melbourne as the event continues to grow, providing young players with valuable opportunities to compete against the best emerging female baseball talent from around Australia.

*** WELCOME TO THE TEAM, JAY! ***

We are thrilled to announce that Jay Nilsson is joining the Pine Hills Lightning family as our new Junior Coaching Director.

Jay will be taking charge of all junior player development, while also focusing on supporting and mentoring our junior coaches, which, let's be honest, might be the tougher job of the two.

We are incredibly lucky to have him. Jay brings a massive amount of experience to the club, having played at the highest level here in Australia as well as professionally in the USA. He knows exactly what it takes to develop great baseball habits, and he’s ready to help our junior players take their game to the next level

We’re excited to see the impact Jay will have on our youth program. Next time you see him around the diamonds, please give him a warm Pine Hills welcome!

A massive thank you to the City of Moreton Bay and Mayor Peter Flannery for bringing a piece of Pine Hills Lightning along on their recent trip to Japan!

Mayor Flannery shared the Lightning spirit by presenting our official club caps to some incredible figures in Japanese baseball and softball, including Ms. Taeko Utsugi (Vice President & Head of International Affairs for the Japan Softball Association), Mr. Atsushi Ihara (Secretary General and former NPB executive), and Mr. Hirosaki Sakaguchi (JSA Board Member).

We are incredibly proud to have our club recognised on an international level and to play a small part in building stronger ties between Australia and Japan.

We truly appreciate the Mayor and the Council’s ongoing commitment to supporting local baseball!

Any recipient who was not able to collect their trophy/medal at the presentation night, can collect their trophy/medal from the canteen at 2026-27 sign-on or season start.
