Home from the TBA Australian Nationals where I competed in the Championships, Rachuig and the Open Masters. The week was a challenging one for me, never really having everything click together.
Day 1 of Rachuig, felt ok and bowled ok, finishing the day on 214 ave.
I got rather frustrated day 2 of Rachuig as i was in the pocket all day, and could just not strike along with multiple bad breaks. I averaged 194. It was probably the most mentally challenging day ive had on the lanes in some time. I took myself away, taking a timeout at the gym in the evening, to reset for day 3.
The reset worked and came back strong day 3 averaging 229.
Rachuig for the ACT Mens team was disappointing. Finishing 5th was not even close to where we expected to be, but sparing let us down which cost us a lot of pins, and in turn, a lot of points.
Congrats to the ACT Women however, finishing 2nd and earning a Silver Medal. 1st place was close and they know what they need to work on to take out the Gold next year.
Overall the ACT placed 2nd, which is still a solid result for our team. We still want that overall win and will keep fighting for it.
The Open Masters i qualified 27th, not great but only have to make the cut. I got through the first round after a nervous last 2 games on some rough pairs. Round 2 bowled well and got through easily.
Round 3, 158 game 1, not a good start, but not out of it. Managed to get back to +26 which was 19 pins short of making the top 8 cut, finishing 9th. Not a terrible result, but feel like it could have been so much better.
Plenty to work on moving forward and keen to plan out 2019, hopefully with a few more international stops.
Balls all week were the Brunswick Method on the Fresh. DV8 Turmoil Solid on the transition and the Radical Katana Slash late in the Masters when the lanes broke down a bit more in the fronts.
