The North Face 50/100 We are taking on 50/100K races through the Blue Mountains in NSW, Australia - updates on Fundraising, Training, Nutrition, Race Plan, Support Crew.

When May 2013 rolls around, we will be running in the North Face 50/100, a fifty and one hundred kilometre race through the blue mountains. The next 6 months will be proving in training and perseverance - most will sweat out 1,600 kilometres before stepping over the start line.

i think i finally get it...

sacrifices

zero alcohol - drag on performance, improves endurance duration and mental readiness

additional sleep - replenish physical energy and improves mental alertness

conditioning

speed intervals - perform at close to maximum heart rate or vo2 max, improves lung capacity and cruising speed

hill/stair intervals - simulate race terrain at intensity with repetitions, fatigue and fail muscles, improves vertical and climbing abilities

body pump - stress test leg muscle groups, improves muscle strength and lactic acid tolerance

swimming - sustained cardio, controlled breathe rate, improves running efficiency and economy

dragon boat - develop core strength and body posture, improves running technique and form

distance running - endurance training on mind and body, improves experience in race conditions and course terrain

Along with our to quest to conquer a 50K and 100K race through the Blue Mountains, we are committed to raising funds for the Australian Red Cross.

Together, we've logged over 500Ks in training since the new year, and we've got some knarly marathon-distanced trail runs lined up in the coming weeks.
