TOP 5 WA TITLE PERFORMANCE: Despite a solid run, Daniel Keen came away from last night's Western Australian Wingless Sprint Title finale at the Perth Motorplex with mixed emotions.

After a loss of brakes aboard the Paul and Kaye Keen-owned WX # 16 Keenquip Race Gear supported Schnee-Lawson Chassis machine on the opening lap of the Western Australian Title decider, he fought hard to be amongst the podium contenders throughout the 30-lap event and went on to finish in fifth.

"It was great to bring home a top-five result in one of the state's biggest Wingless Sprint events of the season, but I can't help but wonder what might have been had I not lost the brakes on the opening lap, as I felt we were good enough, as I had a great car under me, for a spot on the podium," expressed Daniel Keen, who had started the Western Australian Title from position nine after he had ran fourth in his third and final heat race.

"In last night's final heat race, we had completely missed the setup, but we had the car's setup on the money for the feature race, but despite being disappointed, I'm very grateful to be right up there with the best in the country.

"A massive thanks once again must go to my pop (Paul Keen) for all of his wonderful support and non-stop efforts, and I can't my brother, Michael, enough, as he has done an awesome job as crew chief over the past two weekends, and it's great that we can work together so well no matter which one of us is doing the driving duties."

Fellow Keens Race Team driver Lachie Robertson finished his Western Australian Title campaign ninth in B main 2, which saw him miss out on a feature-race transfer spot. In his third and final heat race of the event, Robertson had finished fifth, and it saw him start B main 2 out of position nine.

KEEN'S STRONG START: Daniel Keen has finished the opening night of the Western Australian Wingless Sprint Title at the Perth Motorplex well placed within the top 10 of the point standings.

The 2013 Western Australian Champion, driving the Paul and Kaye Keen owned WX # 16 Keenquip Race Gear supported Schnee-Lawson Chassis car, was on the pace throughout the opening night after he won his opening heat race, charged from position 11 in his second and third heat race to finish third, and he capped the night with an eighth-place finish in the 20-lap preliminary feature race.

"I had a pretty good run tonight and the best part about it is that there are still plenty of improvements to make with the car and hopefully I can get myself into a good position with help from my younger brother and crew chief Michael for tomorrow night's feature race," commented Daniel Keen, who will be starting his third and final heat race tomorrow night out of position four.

"The team has had a mixed run over the previous three nights of racing, so I'm glad to see us getting on top of things tonight. I can't thank my pop (Paul Keen) enough for all of his hard work to get the car ready for the Western Australian Title. He's 82 years old and he's out there slogging away on the race car and full credit must go to him for what he does to give me a front-running car."

Fellow Keens Race Team driver Lachie Robertson finished 11th in his preliminary feature race after he had started from position 15. Heading into the feature race, he had finished ninth and sixth in his two heat races.

This season's Western Australian Title concludes with tomorrow night's finale back at the Perth Motorplex, where Daniel and Lachie are focused on finishing their 2025-26 season campaigns on a pleasing note.

Daniel Keen and Lachie Robertson are ready to go for the next two nights of Western Australian Wingless Sprint Title action at the Perth Motorplex.

It's certainly been a busy time for the Keens Race Team with three nights of racing over the past week, so both Daniel and Lachie are aiming for solid performances during the two-night Western Australian Title.

To say that Daniel Keen put in a massive effort during the two nights of the Australian Wingless Sprint Championship at the Perth Motorplex would be quite the understatement.

The Paul and Kaye Keen-owned WX # 16 Keenquip Race Gear / Samios Plumbing Bunbury supported Schnee-Lawson Chassis machine racer battled engine issues over the two nights, which saw him run the majority of the event with an engine on five cylinders, but he still managed to qualify directly into the Australian Championship deciding feature race and went on to finish in 19th.

"I gave it my all over the weekend and it was frustrating to be held back chasing an engine issue, which considering that we later discovered we were running on five cylinders made what we did quite impressive," said Daniel Keen, who had started from position 18 in the Australian Championship decider.

"A big thanks must go out to nan and pop for allowing me to run their car and I'm now looking forward to the next three nights with the Des Nash Memorial and the Western Australian Title and hoping we can get some good results."

Fellow Keens Race Team pilot, Lachie Robertson, missed out on a spot in the Australian Championship feature race after he had finished B main 2 in ninth place.

NIGHT ONE IN THE BOOKS: With the Australian Wingless Sprint Championship opener at the Perth Motorplex done and dusted, the attention of Keens Race Team drivers - Daniel Keen and Lachie Robertson - now turns to tonight's finale.

KEENS RACE TEAM PRIMED FOR BUSY TIMES: Daniel Keen and Lachie Robertson are excited about tackling the biggest fortnight of the Wingless Sprint racing of the 2025-26 season at the Perth Motorplex starting with this weekend's 2026 Australian Wingless Sprint Championship.

Last night's practice at the Perth Motorplex saw Daniel have his final hit out, which was a positive shakedown run aboard the Paul Keen-owned Schnee-Lawson Chassis car, which saw him end up eighth fastest overall in the 49-car field, following recent electrical issues. Meanwhile, Lachie has run the bulk the race meetings at the Perth Motorplex so far this season in order to prepare for his Australian Championship assault.

Daniel is looking forward to the Australian Championship campaign, where he is aiming to go one better than his 2012 performance when he ran second behind Todd Wigzell, while Lachie's best Australian Championship is a 15th in 2023, so he has his sights on improving on that result and finishing well within the top 10.
