On Sunday, April 12th, we unleashed our annual Gala Day—where 18 teams showed up, ready to bowl and, let’s be honest, devour snacks. It was a full house. Frankly, it was fantastic to see so many people and even more fantastic that we didn’t run out of alcohol or food!
The weather really pulled out all the stops for us and the bowlers—so sunny and pleasant, some suspected we may have bribed the weather gods with last year’s leftover sausage rolls. Either way, the day was a hit!
Everyone had a fantastic time—between the food, the raffles, the games, and the general camaraderie, we might’ve set the world record for most high-fives per minute. Next year, we may need to hand out ice packs with the raffle tickets!
A HUGE thank you to all the bowlers who showed up and an even bigger thank you to our members for making the day run as smoothly as it did. You are all stars—Hollywood, take note!
Unfortunately, not everyone can win—unless we start awarding trophies for Best Hat or Loudest Cheer (maybe next year?). For now, massive congratulations to our champions, who managed to bowl, eat, and raffle their way to the top!
Round 1 winners – Bayswater – Peddey (rumor has it, they practiced with watermelons).
Round 2 winners – Kalgoorlie – Grace (apparently bowled a great game while blindfolded… or so they claim).
Round 3 winners – Bassendean – Lilley (their victory dance is still trending on social media).
Overall Results
4th Place – Badgingarra – Sutherland (awarded for best team spirit and most snacks consumed).
3rd Place – Kalgoorlie – Grace (again! Clearly no fluke).
2nd Place – Glen Forrest – Doyle (so close, they could practically smell the winner's pizza).
Champions – Midland Morrison – Willis (bowled like legends, celebrated like rock stars—some say they’re still partying!).

Pennants Season Results and Appreciation
Another Pennants season is done and dusted. The men’s Saturday Pennants team claimed an impressive 7th place finish, while the men’s Thursday Pennants team nabbed 6th position, which is officially just one spot better (but who’s counting?). The ladies’ team matched the Saturday men’s squad with a solid 7th place, proving that lucky number seven is alive and well. All in all, not too shabby!
A huge thank you to our tireless members, who showed up each week rain, shine, or just for the snacks. Special mention to our selectors, who bravely assembled teams and managed the occasional fallout. Our managers, ever resourceful, and the volunteers who keep the club spinning faster than a well-polished bowling green deserve a round of applause. We truly have a mighty little club, and here's hoping it grows faster than our supply of sandwich fillings!
Memorable Encounter at Quinns Rocks
On a slightly offbeat note, the ladies wrapped up their final game at Quinns Rocks, where—after the match and a much-needed beverage and ‘sanga’ (sandwich, for the uninitiated)—life member Sandy Novak emerged from the ladies’ room only to find Kim Hughes, former Australian Cricket Captain, casually parked at their table. Sandy was so excited, she almost bowled over her own sandwich, and a photo session soon ensued.
Kim Hughes stuck around, charming everyone with stories and jokes, and proving he’s as good with a crowd as he is with a cricket bat. He was an absolute delight—so much so that next year, we might just try recruiting him for Pennants. If nothing else, he’s a champion at keeping spirits high and conversations lively!

Sponsor Appreciation Night
Celebrating Our Valued Sponsors
Last night, we hosted a special Sponsor Appreciation Night to express our heartfelt gratitude to all of our wonderful sponsors for their unwavering support of our club. Your contributions are truly invaluable, and we cannot thank you enough for standing by us. Without your generosity and encouragement, our club would not be where it is today.
Event Highlights
While some sponsors were unable to attend due to prior commitments, those who joined us enjoyed a memorable evening together. The night began with a relaxed roll up and some lighthearted fun on the greens, allowing everyone to unwind and connect in a friendly atmosphere.
Gourmet Dining Experience
After the activities on the greens, guests were welcomed inside for a delightful three-course meal, thoughtfully prepared by our dedicated catering coordinators, President, and club members. The dining area featured beautifully decorated tables adorned with elegant centerpieces, creating a warm and inviting setting. Each sponsor also received a special gift as a token of our appreciation.
The meal offered a choice of prawn cocktail or sticky pork belly bites for entrée, followed by a main course selection of lasagne with steamed vegetables or butter chicken and rice. To finish, guests enjoyed a delicious homemade tiramisu for dessert.
