competition in 1968 and joined the Victorian Amateur Football Association in 1971. The inaugural year in the VAFA competition was an undoubted success for the Club with a Premiership for the Seniors and the Reserves finishing third. The Club swept the ‘F’ grade pool – the Premiership and Peter Gartner with 98 goals won the leading Goal Kicker and the Best and Fairest for the Grade. The early found

ations on and off of the field saw the Club progress from F grade to A grade in successive years with Premierships in 1974 and 1976. Ray Walsh as coach. A talented group of players. Bill Gartner and a committed group of supporters and parent contributed to a remarkable achievement unparalleled in the VAFA competition. The 1980’s. The first Under 19 premiership for the Club in 1984 contributed to a pool of talent and a B grade premiership for the Seniors in 1985 under the guidance of Neil LeLievre as Senior Coach. The Club re-entered A grade with a significant changing of the playing guard. The 1990’s – a 1990 Premiership with a talented Under 19 group translated into a powerful finish in the 90’s. Successive Premierships with Tony Paatsch in 1997 in ‘C’ grade and 1998 in ‘B’ grade for the Seniors. A premiership for the Reserves in 1996. A Under 19 Premiership in 1999. The 2000’s – a big decade. The A Grade premiership in 2001 with Simon Dalrymple as Senior Coach. The Under 19 Premiership in 2005. The B Grade Premiership in 2008. Club XV111 Premierships in 2002 and 2008. Bald Eagles Premierships in 2001 and 2002. Across the history of the Club there has been so many successes - much more than games won and premierships. Enduring and lifelong friendships on and off of the field has to be a hallmark of any successful Club. One person has seen it all. In the 1971 annual report President Brian Wright commented, “Tim Naughton saw to the efficient administration of both teams. The demands on his time were heavy yet he still placed himself at the Clubs disposal each Saturday as timekeeper as well as seeing to the preparation of the ground and gymnasium when we were playing at the College”

Saturday was unfortunately the end of our Senior Womens season, who fell short in their Preliminary Final against Ormond.

The Eagles had a fantastic 10th anniversary season, finishing 3rd and qualifying for their 8th finals campaign in 10 years. It was an incredible season of growth, enjoyment and positivity from the whole group, led by Matt Ryan in his first season as Head Coach.

Having all teams train on the same night for the first season ever has been a tremendous boost for all football programs, and the buy-in from the Womens program to get behind our club and all its teams is second to none!

While we couldn't make it all the way, the Senior Womens should be as proud as the entire club is for their efforts this season, and we know they will be raring to go to give everything they've got in 2027!

This weeks Volunteer of the Week is James Stapleton!

After our club achieved a clean sweep of wins for Round 17 of the Seniors and Reserves Mens, as well as the Semi Finals for our Senior Womens and Thirds, Stapo was good enough to make cookies for the entire club for Thursday night dinner!

Stapo has been a stellar member of the club since joining as a Year 12 student in 2025. He has put his hand up to help with events and fundraising activities time and time again, and we couldn't be happier to have someone like him as a young leader in our community.

We thank the Bendigo Bank East Ivanhoe for their ongoing support of the Eagles! Call Mat Harrison today on 0407 699 501 or email [email protected] for all your banking needs.

Massive thank you to the Eagles community who helped out yesterday at Marcellin College as we hosted VAFA Finals action!

The support of our community was outstanding, with many players, coaches, supports and even our wonderful sports trainers getting down to pitch in! Seeing the amount of people that put their hand up to help makes us proud of our great club.

We’ll be back this weekend hosting VAFA Finals on Saturday and Sunday and we will need all hands on deck. Rosters will be circulated shortly – if you’re keen to help for a few hours, send us a message and we’ll be in touch

A tough weekend across the board from our final home-and-away games.

The highlight of the weekend came from our Thirds, who secured a strong win to book their place in the Grand Final against AJAX next weekend! 🏆

A wonderful season has come to a close for our Senior Women, who fought right through to the Preliminary Final. Congratulations to the players, coaches and volunteers on an outstanding season and thank you for everything you've contributed to the club.

The Senior and Reserves Men’s season also came to an end as they battled hard against Ormond but couldn't get the result, while the Bald Eagles 45s also saw their finals campaign come to an end.

Again, a HUGE congratulations to everyone who took the field this weekend, and a huge thank you to everyone who got behind our teams throughout the season!

A huge weekend awaits the Eagles. 🦅

After last weeks wins, the Senior Womens and Thirds will take the field in a double header in Dingley to play off for a Grand Final spot!

The Senior Womens will face Ormond, while the Thirds will take on the Hampton Rovers. Both teams are coming up against tough opponents, and we urge the Marcellin community to get down and show their support for our teams!

Meanwhile, the Senior Men and Reserves Men will take on Ormond at Bray Oval, with both sides preparing for their final game of the season. The Senior Men will be looking to finish the year strongly in front of the Marcellin faithful, while the Reserves will also be hoping to end their campaign on a high.

It's a massive weekend for the club, with two teams just one win away from a Grand Final. Get around the Eagles and show your support! 🦅

Go Eagles!

This weeks volunteer is Andy May.

Goal umpire and umpire es**rt extraordinaire, rain, hail or shine. He even leapt to the es**rt job when the President forgot he was on duty in the second quarter of the game against Peninsula.

We are a great club because of great people.
Thanks Andy.
