competition in 1968 and joined the Victorian Amateur Football Association in 1971. The inaugural year in the VAFA competition was an undoubted success for the Club with a Premiership for the Seniors and the Reserves finishing third. The Club swept the ‘F’ grade pool – the Premiership and Peter Gartner with 98 goals won the leading Goal Kicker and the Best and Fairest for the Grade. The early found

ations on and off of the field saw the Club progress from F grade to A grade in successive years with Premierships in 1974 and 1976. Ray Walsh as coach. A talented group of players. Bill Gartner and a committed group of supporters and parent contributed to a remarkable achievement unparalleled in the VAFA competition. The 1980’s. The first Under 19 premiership for the Club in 1984 contributed to a pool of talent and a B grade premiership for the Seniors in 1985 under the guidance of Neil LeLievre as Senior Coach. The Club re-entered A grade with a significant changing of the playing guard. The 1990’s – a 1990 Premiership with a talented Under 19 group translated into a powerful finish in the 90’s. Successive Premierships with Tony Paatsch in 1997 in ‘C’ grade and 1998 in ‘B’ grade for the Seniors. A premiership for the Reserves in 1996. A Under 19 Premiership in 1999. The 2000’s – a big decade. The A Grade premiership in 2001 with Simon Dalrymple as Senior Coach. The Under 19 Premiership in 2005. The B Grade Premiership in 2008. Club XV111 Premierships in 2002 and 2008. Bald Eagles Premierships in 2001 and 2002. Across the history of the Club there has been so many successes - much more than games won and premierships. Enduring and lifelong friendships on and off of the field has to be a hallmark of any successful Club. One person has seen it all. In the 1971 annual report President Brian Wright commented, “Tim Naughton saw to the efficient administration of both teams. The demands on his time were heavy yet he still placed himself at the Clubs disposal each Saturday as timekeeper as well as seeing to the preparation of the ground and gymnasium when we were playing at the College”

Great start to the weekend with the Thirds picking up a win last night against ladder leader AJAX!

The Eagles established a healthy half time lead and were able to hold the opposition scoreless in the third quarter. While AJAX rallied in the fourth, the Eagles were able to hold them off and take away the win in cold (and wet) conditions.

Let's bring this momentum into the games this Nest Ball weekend 🦅🦅

Congratulations to Joshua Kol who has been nominated for the Big V Under 19s Representative Squad!

Koli came to the club last year as a Year 12 student. In addition to a fantastic First XVIII season where he kicked 13 goals for Marcellin College, his Senior performances were even more special. Debuting with two goals in the first quarter against Parkside, Koli played four games for the Eagles where he was nominated for the VAFA Anytime Fitness Rising Star Award!

This season, Koli has continued to excel, kicking 10 goals from 7 games whilst also joining St Kilda’s VFL program in the offseason.

A much deserved nomination, we look forward to seeing Koli continuing to improve and be a much loved member of the Marcellin community 🦅

A big return from the bye for the Eagles, with five wins from seven matches across the weekend 🦅

The Senior Men, Reserves, Senior Women and Thirds all secured impressive victories on Saturday, while the Over 45s continued their strong form with a convincing win on Sunday.

The Senior Women made it seven wins from eight and remain one of the competition’s form teams, while the Reserves produced a dominant performance to record their biggest win of the season.

The Marcellin First XVIII and Bald Eagles Over 35s fought hard but fell just short in competitive contests.
