Tech Official of the Year – SOPHIE DAY
Presented by Kristy Butler.

Today we celebrate Sophie Day, our SCHA Association Technical Officer of the Year.

At just sixteen, Sophie has served as a dedicated technical official throughout the season, contributing her skills at both the U14 Girls State Championships in Hervey Bay and the Women's Masters in Brisbane.
In every environment, she has shown calm confidence, sharp attention to detail, and a genuine passion for supporting our game.

With guidance from past award recipient Kristy Butler, Sophie has grown into a confident, reliable, and highly capable technical official.

Her dedication and maturity make her an incredible asset to our association and a shining example of the future of officiating.

Senior Umpires Award – CHLOE ANDERSEN Presented by Chantelle Lamb on behalf of Lamb Family

This award acknowledges achievements that have been nothing short of outstanding this season. Chloe Andersen, our SCHA Association Senior Umpire of the Year, has continued to build on her incredible 2025 season.

She represented our Association at the U18 Nationals in Darwin, earning a Bronze Medal appointment, and officiated at both the Open State and Masters Women's Championships, where she was appointed to the Gold Medal Match at each tournament.
This year also saw Chloe take her umpiring to the international stage, invited by Singapore Hockey, alongside three other Hockey Australia officials, to officiate in their National Hockey League.

Her professionalism extends beyond the field, with Chloe selected as an Umpire Manager at the U14 State Championships, where she led a team-building and development session for the umpire panel.

Chloe, your leadership, commitment and constant drive to be better in your craft make you an incredibly deserving recipient.

Junior Umpires Award – MARCUS ABDY

Marcus Abdy, our SCHA Junior Umpire of the Year. Marcus has shown impressive growth, confidence, and commitment throughout the past 12 months, stepping up to officiate at both the U14 Girls State Championships in Hervey Bay and the Gympie Gala Day.

His calm presence on the field, willingness to learn, and dedication to implementing feedback at the State Championships earned him the honor of officiating the Gold Medal Match in Hervey Bay.

Marcus consistently demonstrates maturity beyond his years, and his commitment to developing his craft makes him a standout young umpire within our association. He truly represents the bright future of officiating on the Sunshine Coast.

Masters Player of the Year – GEN LEE

Not to be confused with the actor, our resident Ninja Goalkeeper, Gen “Bruce” Lee, is our recipient of the 2026 Masters Player of the Year.

Gen’s achievements over the past 12 months are what many aspire to achieve across an entire career. She has represented at 2025 Masters National for HQ Women’s 40s team and was part of the SCHA Masters Women’s Team 1 (Runners up in 2026), earning selection in the Hockey Queensland Masters Women’s 40s Gold Team, heading to Adelaide later this month.

Her skills aren’t just for the turf — she also takes to the court, making her a dual-sport international athlete. She has represented Australia at two Masters World Cups in 2026: World Cup 40s Indoor in Nottingham and World Cup 40s Outdoor team in Netherlands where she secured a Silver Medal at both tournaments.

Gen brings calm, strong communication and natural leadership to every team. She also generously volunteers her time supporting our coaching course earlier in the year, assisting coaches to better understand the skills, techniques and requirements involved in coaching a goalkeeper.

Most Outstanding Junior Goalkeeper – JORJA CHILTON - Presented by Jeff Lancaster

Commitment, strive for development and a never say die attitude, are all attributes the Most Outstanding Junior Goalkeeper posses.

Jorja Chilton our 2026 award winner, has made an outstanding impact both within our Association and at the representative level.
Jorja represented SCHA in our Under 18 Women’s team, where she has continued to develop her confidence and leadership between the posts.
Her performances at the State Championships earned her selection in the Hockey Queensland U18 Women’s Gold Team, where she travelled to Darwin to compete against the best young players in the country. The team finished an impressive 5th, with Jorja playing an important role throughout the tournament.

Goalkeeping requires courage, composure and resilience, and Jorja consistently demonstrates all three. She is a goalkeeper who can be relied upon when the pressure is on, a dedicated member of any team and always showing a willingness to learn and improve.

Jorja, congratulations on being named our 2026 Junior Goalkeeper of the Year.

2026 SCHA Association Awards

Most Outstanding Junior Player – MADISON TOLSON
Presented by Jeff Lancaster

Our Most Outstanding Junior Player award recognizes a player whose achievements, commitment and performances have made a lasting impression.

Our 2026 recipient, Madi Tolson, has had an exceptional season, proudly representing the SCHA in our Under 18 Women’s team, continuing to demonstrate her skill, determination and commitment to the game.

From this championship, Madi was selected in the Hockey Queensland U18 Women’s Maroon Team, travelling to Darwin in July. The team went undefeated throughout the tournament, finishing as Gold Medal Champions — an incredible achievement.

Madi, who is also a valued member of the Buderim Rebels Division 1 Women’s Team, your achievements this season are a true reflection of your hard work, dedication and passion for hockey.

From your success at SCHA through to representing Queensland on the national stage, you have shown what can be achieved through commitment and determination.

Our 2026 SCHA Association Coach of the Year is Scott Bambling - Presented By Ash Wallis

Scott has made an outstanding contribution to our junior program this season, leading the second U14 Girls team at the State Championships in Hervey Bay and will also be serving as Manager for the second U16 Girls.

Scott brings calm leadership, strong communication, and a genuine commitment to developing young athletes. His ability to support players, build confidence, and create a positive team environment has been evident across every event he has been part of.
He does all this while also standing as the President of Nambour Demons, manager of Nambour Div 2 women and Coach of Nambour U14 Girls.

Scott, your dedication to our athletes and your passion for coaching make you a truly deserving recipient of this award.

SCHA 2026 Community Club Coach of the Year – Oli Martens - Presented by Ash Wallis

This next award shines a light on someone whose impact on hockey this season goes far beyond wins and losses.
It celebrates someone who has given countless hours to developing players, building confidence and creating opportunities for others to experience and love our game.

This person is Oli Martens.Oli has generously shared his expertise across three local teams this season, while also taking on the role of Assistant Coach for the SCHA Under 12 Boys Representative team.

And if that wasn't enough, Oli also stepped up to help facilitate Sunny Stars on Friday nights, giving our youngest players the opportunity to build confidence and, most importantly, have fun playing hockey.

Oli consistently shows up with passion, patience, lots of energy, and a genuine desire to see players succeed. His willingness to give back has made a lasting difference across our community.

Oli, we thank you for your time, dedication and positive example. Congratulations!
