One of our favourite things about in-hand walking is how much you can achieve without ever getting in the saddle.

New places.
New horses.
Different sights and sounds.
And plenty of opportunities to practise simply walking together.

Our fortnightly Blakk Park walks are back tomorrow!

No pressure to ride — bring your horse along and enjoy a relaxed walk, some new scenery and good company.

They’re particularly lovely for young horses, nervous humans, horses returning to work or anyone who simply enjoys doing something different with their horse.

💚 You don’t have to be the bravest rider to belong here.

You don’t even have to ride.

Blakk Park has become a space for people at completely different stages of their horse journey — confident riders, nervous riders, young horses, old hands, kids learning how to care for horses and people who simply enjoy being around them.

There’s no prize for progressing the fastest.

Sometimes grooming your horse, taking an in-hand walk or successfully doing something you couldn’t do last month is the achievement.

That’s the kind of horse community we’re trying to build here. 🌿🐴

🌿 TRAIL CONFIDENCE IS BUILT BEFORE THE TRAIL

A confident trail horse doesn’t necessarily start out fearless.

Confidence comes from learning that unusual things, different footing, narrow spaces, strange objects and new environments aren’t automatically something to worry about.

That’s part of why we’re so excited about developing our mock trail space.

It gives horses and humans somewhere controlled to stop, think, investigate and try again — without needing to rush.

You just need somewhere to ride. 🐴

Our 40 × 60m sand arena is available for casual hire for $20 per person/day, with access to our obstacles and facilities.

Bring a friend, take your time, practise something new or simply enjoy your horse without feeling rushed.

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads, step-dads, grandads, partners and honorary horse dads out there! 💙

A special mention to the ones who:

🔨 Build the horse things they were “just asked to help with”
🚙 Tow floats all over the countryside
💸 Have learned not to ask what anything costs
🌾 Fix fences, move hay and fill waters
🐴 Somehow end up holding the horse while we do “one quick thing”
😂 And nod supportively while we explain why we definitely need another horse.

Whether horses are your passion too, or you simply love someone whose entire life revolves around them — we appreciate you!

⭕ Round yard access
🌲 Direct access to the Rail Trail and nearby riding

🌿 So… what exactly are we building this weekend?

Our Working Bee isn’t just about tidying up — we’re beginning to create our mock trail riding space!

The idea is to develop an area where horses and riders can safely practise some of the things they might encounter out and about: different surfaces, logs, narrow spaces, obstacles and plenty of opportunities to build confidence before heading out on the trail.

It’ll be something we can keep adding to and changing over time — and we’d LOVE your ideas.
