FIT'n'FIZEEK Personal & Group training

FIT'n'FIZEEK Personal & Group training FitNFizeek is an Indigenous owned home grown broome based Small group training club. strong enough to defend yourself and defend others. step 3.

it is my mission:
'to get you strong enough to help yourself and help others. and strong enough get yourself and/or others from point A to point B'

sounds pretty straight forward, but imagine if you had to do these things during catastrophe or a zombie invasion!!! it will may never happen but thats what motivates me, what will help me get you in the best shape ready for anything. i believe everyone has 3 health objectives: Active, Physique, Fitness. no matter what you want from your body you'll find your goal fits in with one of these 3 different health objectives. the problem is when people are told that these 3 objectives are all the same thing...well they're not, have you ever tried a health kick, gave it everything you got then either gave up, got bored, or not matter what you tried the weight just crept back on? chances are likely you got these 3 objectives mixed up. so let me explain:

ACTIVE is the key objective of those who are seeking to simply improve their state of health, its unreasonable to expect someone who has been in-ative for sometime or has a health condition to start a full fitness program and turn their lifestyle upside down. it can be done, its just super difficult without making the right decision. Remember: B4 you get fit you need to get active. PHYSIQUE is the key objective if you want to lose weight or change your body composition. Not just about losing weight but also improving the body's shape which is essential to combating many weight related diseases. FITNESS is the key objective if you wish to improve you performance at anything from sports & recreation to keeping up with kids and carrying groceries while maintaing good bodily function when your not performing. so although these 3 objectives relate quite closely to one another and compliment each other e.g. great fitness, good physique vice versa great physique, good fitness the training methods to achieve each one are very different and cause a lot of confusion leading to mis-guiding advice and another failed goal

thats where i come in,
step 1. we get to find out more about each other & prioritise your goal objective
step 2. i get your history and etc. and create a realistic yet creative program just for you. we do what it takes to get you to your goal.

‘A strong man is he who exists Between a Warrior and a scholar and knows how to call upon either when needed’

Story telling and art made me a scholar.
Grappling on the mats and grappling restless demons made me a warrior (of some sort)

As a kid I hated boxing, I literally just did it to keep other people happy. The grappling game was my battle of choice. Eventually throughout the years I found a healthy level of respect for the sweet science but never thought I’d be trading the mats for punches until 12 weeks ago when our club needed to beef up the fight card.

The whole 12 week preparation phase of morning & evening training sessions and dieting was another great reminder of what me and my son are capable of outside our comfort zones. Being way out of my depths, there were so many times I wanted to pull out and convince myself to do it next year. I didn’t even take any progress photos of us just in case I pulled the plug but I kept telling myself ‘this is all for the ‘De-shelling process. to shed away the years of doubts, criticism and disappointment I’ve held in myself all throughout fatherhood.
‘After the fight, you can you can throw the old shell away’

That’s what this was for. It was for me.

Every time you fight, an old shell of you is peeled away. A better version of you awaits regardless of winning or losing.

Don’t get me wrong: ju jitsu and grappling gave me the peace and security I needed in many bad situations.
becoming a successful author/artist was the validation I needed to silence my demons.
BUT! Boxing for me was a beast my younger self never made peace with.

It was a great honour getting in the ring for the Broome fight night along with my son Aidan and our other Broome boxers at Red Dirt Rumble who made the club proud.

BIG thank you to the man mr. Shane for going the rounds with me in both training and on fight night.

And of course huge Thank you to the Broome Boxing Club for coaching and supporting all of us.

Hope we made the club proud.

And that’s a wrap. This was our last FUCNFIT sessions…
After 11 years of sweating, burning, lifting, squeezing, running, punching, wrestling , kicking, hurting, yelling, crying and cheering, Fitnfizeek has had to closed its doors. Today makes a sad day for us but I’m very proud of what we achieved at FIT’n’FIZEEK.

We were a locally run Aboriginal own business servicing the Broome area that didn’t follow the latest trends because fundamental skills, functional strength and self defence always came first.

From my early days operating out of my carport to Sibosado park to Natural Edge to Hunter street then to Phoenix gym and back to Hunter Street then to Kimberley Physio and then finally the Broome Boxing Club no one can’t say I didn’t try to keep a roof over our heads.

A Huge big thank you to all my clients past and present who kept FNF afloat and food on our table during some really desperate times. And a huge big thank you to the businesses that accommodated us over the years, I am forever grateful to you all.

I have extremely proud memories of all my clients who built the FNF family.

I hope you all continue your fitness journeys taking what we’ve learnt together with you as I will as I continue with mine. This isn’t the end of FNF. Fitnfizeek will live on somewhere, but I think this next leg I’m going to do on my own. Thank you all and we’ll see you next time.
