Night 1 Shinju Matsuri Speedway

DMAC Racing made the annual trip up to Derby Speedway for the Donny Archer Memorial, held in conjunction with the Westralia Cup.

It was a tricky first night, with plenty of work to find the right setup for a challenging track.

Dylan and Bumblebee Mark had a little coming-together in Turns 1 & 2, which had them “twinning” for the rest of the weekend with matching right-side bars. 😂

Dylan would line up alongside long-time mentor BK for the Feature, and it was Dylan who would lead out of Turn 2 and never look back. After two restarts, Dylan would take the chequered flag, with Brad in second and BK rounding out the podium. 🏆🥈🥉

A massive thank you to the Archer family and Derby Speedway. We absolutely love coming to this event every year. The effort from the volunteers and the Derby community is nothing short of amazing — the transformation around the grounds and pit area was amazeballs! 👏

A special shout-out to Jakob Doust — that Stockie race was one of the best races we’ve seen! Finishing the B Main, jumping onto the back of the A Main and coming through to take third… that was a drive and a half! 👌🔥

Now it’s time to gear up for Broome Speedway’s Annual Shinju Matsuri Stampede this coming weekend. 🏁

And as always, a massive thanks to Mum & Dad, Nan & Sister Ella, all the other Modlite drivers and everyone who helps make these weekends possible.

Made the trek down to Nickol Bay Speedway for their annual FeNaCING race meet.

The track was fast and absolutely on song, thanks to Mal McAuley, and Dylan was able to dip into the 19-second bracket a couple of times.

It’s always a great weekend away with this crew, plenty of laughs, good racing, and great company.

Bring on Night 2! 👊🏁

Finishing P1 by overlapping every car, and with about 15 seconds to spare.

Next on the agenda, a change of scenery with Broome Fishing Clubs annual Billfish Comp.

It’s been all go for Dylan lately — working the top end of the state between Broome → Kununurra → Broome → Fitzroy Crossing → Broome → Kununurra, before flying back in on race day.

Meanwhile, Dad has been flat‑out behind the scenes getting W18 ready for a full heart transplant after the unfortunate demise of the previous motor.

The boys worked hard, bolting everything together just in time to make the 220km run up the road to Derby Speedway for the Boab Spectacular (Saturday 20 June).

Missing the first heat while still on the road, Dylan came out swinging in the second and third — looking strong and grabbing wins in both.

When everything settled, the podium stood:
🥇 Mark “Bumble Bee” Murray
🥈 W18 Dylan McLaughlin
🥉 Jason Webb

A massive effort from everyone involved, especially considering how tight the turnaround was.

❌ ROUND 4 – BROOME SPEEDWAY
Unfortunately, Round 4 (20/06/26) was cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.

So instead, the boys enjoyed a couple of cold ones at the bar, burgers from the canteen, and an early night.

Our two-night meet, which was meant to be the Australian National Modlite Title, Broome Speedway still went ahead with the focus of families and our juniors, but for Dylan didn’t quite go to plan.

Dylan looked unstoppable in the first heat.

Unfortunately, the second heat showed signs that the motor was getting tired, and by the third heat, it had finally had enough and let go. 💥🔧

Now comes the hard part — a big day ahead pulling everything apart, assessing the damage, and making plans to send the motor off to the experts for some much-needed attention from the motor doctor. 🛠️🚚

It’s definitely not the result we were hoping for, but that’s racing, and we will be back to have another crack. 💪🏁
