🎤 A huge thank you to our amazing MC for the night, Mathew Francis—the man with the velvet voice who kept everything running smoothly!
Mathew worked alongside Jaye from Unbound Sounds. Unfortunately, we don’t have a photo of Jaye, but he’s the talented guy behind the scenes coordinating the boxers’ walkout songs, incredible music, lighting, sound and smoke effects.
These guys often have one of the hardest jobs on the night. We prepare for months and provide them with a basic script and list of boxers, but in boxing, things can change right up until the last minute—and they just adapt and keep the show moving!
This year, we thought we were well prepared. We’ve done this rodeo a few times; everything was booked, and our fighters were confirmed. Then, at the last minute, two officials were unable to attend, and two of our boxers were injured. We were suddenly trying to organise replacement officials, flights and new matchups. It was certainly a stressful time!
A massive thank you to the boxing clubs that came through and helped us secure those last-minute matchups. Thank you also to Broome Travel Centre for helping us navigate the best available travel prices for our officials and fighters at such short notice.
Thank you to the Shire of Broome for providing such an amazing venue, and to Sam at the Broome Civic Centre for her help and for running the bar with her team.
We would also like to thank all our amazing sponsors. Your generosity and continued support make events like the Red Dirt Rumble possible and help our volunteer-run club continue to grow.
A very special thank you to Craig and his incredible kitchen crew, who worked tirelessly to keep our sponsors’ tables, Boxing WA officials and volunteers well fed throughout the night. Craig is truly outstanding, and we greatly appreciate everything he and his team did for us.
To our incredible committee members, who volunteer countless hours behind the scenes—thank you. These events simply could not happen without you.
A special thank you to Justyna, who said she couldn’t commit to joining the committee but immediately offered to run the raffle for us. Thank you also to Cameron, who always helps with the kids’ classes whenever he can and takes on any official duties needed. On fight night, he stepped up as our timekeeper again!!
Finally, thank you to everyone who volunteered, including those who had never been involved in boxing before but stepped up because their mate was fighting.
You are all amazing. Nights like the Red Dirt Rumble don’t happen without our wonderful volunteers, generous sponsors and the support of our incredible Broome community.
Thank you! 🥊❤️
