So this is my recap of our retreat that happened a couple of months back.

Shelby and Jess have already rebooked this amazing, life changing experience,so…my strong suggestion is if you identify as monocular or vision impaired , this next one will be for you!

This is where I physically got to meet community . Made life long friends and was able to process the stuff the Dr’s and surgeons don’t tell you about.

Forever grateful for this experience, so much so that I’ve already booked for “The One Eye Retreat 2027”.

Today I start studying Peri & Post Menopause in Training thanks to .

Because too many women have been made to feel like their bodies are the problem.

Energy dips.
Strength feels inconsistent.
Fat loss doesn’t respond the way it used to.

And suddenly… the same training that once worked, doesn’t.

That’s not failure.
That’s physiology.

For too long, this stage of life has been met with guesswork instead of guidance.

I’m changing that.

So if you don’t know me by now,
My name is Shai and I’ve had one eye for 3.5 years.

And for most of that time… I covered it.

Not because I had to — but because it felt easier than being seen.

Recently, I made a decision:
no more eye patch (well, not always , but on my terms..)
No more hiding.
Just me — as I am.

I’ve learnt this through community. Not only family, not only through LGBTQ 🏳️‍🌈 family, through my work family, but though and the one eyed community, even at a retreat on the other side of the world …

Today, I was walking my usual route when a couple stopped mid-conversation.
She reached out her hand and said,
“I’m so sorry…”

And for a second, I didn’t know what to do with that.

Because this — my life, my body, my perspective —
isn’t something I wake up wishing away.

It’s something I’ve learned to live with.
Then accept.
Then own.

What she saw as something to feel sorry for…
is something I’ve fought hard to be at peace with.

And maybe that’s the gap.

Not everyone knows how to respond to difference.
So they default to pity.

But I’m not a tragedy.
I’m not something broken.

I’m just someone who decided to stop hiding.

If anything —
this is the most me I’ve ever been.

And that’s not something to be sorry about.
