Outside hip rotation 🎒

Warmup: execute each for 4-5 minutes

1. Outside hip rotation + through cross behind combo
2. Outside hip rotation & outside hip rotation through + hand exchange speed stop + reverse steps

Finishing: execute for 2 minutes followed by 2 free throws. Do 2 sets on each side.

3. Outside hip rotation + veer later extension finish (basket accountability for lateral extension) & outside hip rotation through + speed stop shot fake finish

4. Midrange: execute for 2 minutes followed by 2 free throws. Do 2 sets on each side.

Hand exchange speed stop + reverse pivot slide escape + outside hip rotation + midrange shot of choice & outside hip rotation through/cross + shot of choice

5. Reads/reactions: execute for 2 minutes followed by 2 free throws. Do 2 sets on each side.

Outside hip rotation & go, outside hip rotation through/cross, outside hip rotation + step in shot. Reacting to the voice of coach or partner.

This is a ≈45 minute workout focused on outside hip rotations, and scoring from multiple levels. 🏀

Here is a great cardio shooting drill to use anytime—off season, preseason or in season. ✅

Movements include sprinting, “C” cut (lift) and a jog. 💪🏼

A great standard is 10 makes in less than 1:20 with 1 rebounder and 1 ball. If you don’t make 10 after 1.5 min, stop and shoot free throws for 1 minute and try again. 🎯

Being in great shape year round is a learned skill and discipline players need to excel at the highest level. 🏀

It’s time we leaders start using the game, instead of the game using us. The game was created to teach young people the gospel, life skills, discipline and humility. 🎯

Since life is like a flash in a pan. How much quicker is a basketball career? You can’t convince me in a million years that “drop” footwork and the right shooting technique is more important than discipline & humility…⏳

Everybody’s bball career will end one day but you will carry the characteristics you obtain through the game into the next phase of life. Your earthly body decays, but your soul lives forever. 🙏🏼

Everybody talks separation, separation, separation…but what about footwork that encroaches into your defenders space setting you up for a blow by…💨

Inside hip rotations are great to move downhill slightly in order to access your default drop. If the defender doesn’t adjust their position you can burst into an angle. 🔥

If they shift their weight or slide outside your frame ball side, you counter by changing your angle on your drive. Be sure to land inside-outside on your drop so you can shift your weight. 🔑

Lastly, if the defence drops back and gives you space you can step in with your inside foot from your drop getting you into a shot. 🎯

The key is being intentional about accessing your drop (with all the details) and then reacting (having counters) to how the defence plays you. 🏀

Understand the difference between “urgent” & “poised” footwork. 🔑

Inverted hip rotations are full of micro skills (dribble release, single leg foot replacement, partial pivots, skips) players need to obtain to move at a high level with the ball in their hands. 📝

Spin seals are great when you want to urgently burst into an angle clearly presented to you with a defender closer than arms distance. 💨

You could utilize an inverted hip rotation when an angle is presented to you but by accessing your drop you can affectively burst into a wider attacking angle driving in either direction from the same place in space. 🏀
