Vanguard Swordsmanship Academy is a martial arts organisation that teaches western swordsmanship. We offer instruction in Sword & Dagger as part of a structured syllabus that includes use of companion weapons. When students master the basics there is opportunity to learn other weapon forms as they advance. We aim to create a modern approach to western swordplay by utilizing period resources, high
quality reproduction swords and modern training techniques to establish a martial culture that allows a wide variety of student needs to be met. Vanguard aims to create an environment that promotes general fitness, co-ordination, self defence skills and an appreciation of the development of western martial arts that promotes engagement with other swordplay organisations. We train every Monday from 7.30pm to 9.00pm at Oakleigh State School located on Buxton Street Ashgrove. We also have a practice night on Wednesday 7:30 to 9:00 for students to consolidate their skills.
