Interesting ABC Life Matters Podcast which reviews current issues around saving suburban bowls clubs which are in general decline. This is a 20 min listen. We trialled Social Sundays last year but found them not quite for our club. We'd be interested in our followers thoughts on what would work for GBC and the community.

🎉 72 years in the making… we're back! 🎉
Graceville Bowls Club is back in First Division of the District Pennant competition for the first time since 1954!
While researching our club history in From Fields to Greens, we found reference to Graceville's relegation after the 1954 pennant season but no record of a return. That makes this season a truly historic milestone for our club.
Our promotion comes on the back of winning the Greater 8s Beta Championship earlier this year and is the reward for years of steady growth. A thriving Learn to Bowl program, led by our President and supported by Brisbane City Council, has helped grow our bowling membership from 85 to 155 over the past decade. Combined with the arrival of talented new bowlers, the welcome addition of several former Tarragindi First Division players following their club's closure, and the persistence of our long-serving bowlers who have been knocking on the First Division door for years, the pieces have finally come together.
Our increased membership now allows us to proudly field four pennant teams in Divisions 1, 2, 5 and 7—a fantastic achievement for a community club.
And we're not just making up the numbers… we've started our First Division return with two wins from our opening two matches!
Congratulations to every player, volunteer and supporter who helped make this happen.

The first Gold event for the year is soon upon us. May 1 - June 5th. 3:00 - 4:30. Invite your friends, neighbours, extended family. New people feel free to stay for a drink afterwards. All are welcome! Please email David if you think you'd like to come. You are welcome to come to all of them or just one. A great way to make friends.
