Aikido is a defensive Japanese martial art. Techniques rely on blending with an opponent and then using weak points in their structure to destabilize them. In order to achieve techniques successfully, rather than depending on size and physical strength, one must learn to remain calm and co ordinated. More than just a martial corpus of techniques as well, the artform also provides at a deeper level

, a philosophy for life based on finding fulfillment not through competition and conflict but rather through harmony and co-operation. Our style of Aikido is called ‘Yuishinkai’, it is considered a softer style of Aikido, that is still very energetic and effective. Our club is a not-for-profit organisation with a diverse membership spanning a variety of cultures, ages and genders.
