WHAT A TRACK
First day of double ride day done and dusted
This all started six months ago when my mate Glen contacted me and we discussed about going to the bend in South Australia. (it was Glen’s fault )We started preparation and in September. I hit my first of snag of many to come. I broke the gearbox in the Bmw which meant we had to pull the motor out and replace the gearbox , i was able to get the gearbox from America. (which Glen found on eBay) I had a mate put it in and I went to the racetrack to test it out and the Bike was going awesome until we hit the third session and i seized the motor. 😳😤😭 Yes you heard right six weeks until we go to the bend, and I have a stuffed the Bmw motor so after a lot of frantic phone calls to friends, distant friends mates, and anyone else I could find to help 🫣was able to acquire a secondhand motor. So out came the stuffed motor in with the new one and back to the track for another test session. The bike was going okay but it didn’t feel right up Top so I organised for Fred at Procycle Dyno to check it on his dyno and see what was going on. This was two weeks before we leave. On the first run on the dyno fred said we have a problem. After looking at the numbers the second lot of injectors weren’t working properly so I do a run to Gold Coast to get a scan tool for it and got it back to Fred’s Workshop. He did the diagnosis and got it all working perfect 👌👌👏 so by this time it was a week before we go so I took all the stuff that I was taking with me over to glen’s and we loaded it on the trailer 😁 (Janet says to me make sure you pack a jumper and some warm clothes in case it gets cold. I look at the temperature for South Australia and it is saying 38°) The day before we leave Glen phones me and says have you seen the latest weather prediction for the Bend. It says it’s gonna rain ☔️ 🤬🤯🤷♂️ that’s right 39° on the Friday and 18 on the Saturday. What the f*!*
So I dig out the wet weather tyres., and yes, the jumper so I am doing my last bit of packing on Wednesday afternoon and I noticed I am getting a runny nose. You fu***ng guessed I was coming down with a bloody cold but I was going to the Bend. I have not been through all this s**t for nothing. sorry Glen if I give you my cold but friends here, so I go to bed on Wednesday not feeling 100% and I get up at 2:30am Glenn picks me up at 3 o’clock, and we start at big adventure 2200 km later and two days we reach the bend . Yes it is 38° on Friday night. We go to bed early as we are totally knackered. Woke up Saturday morning and find it wet. Yes pi***ng down rain 🌧️ ☔️🤯 the first job changed the slicks for wet tyres and anyone that knows me knows how much I love changing Wheels not…
We go to riders brief and find a lot of people have chickened out but we are dedicated idiots and start the day. I have never been here before and all as I can say is what a fu***ng awesome track it’s amazing even in the pi***ng down rain I got no idea how many I did , but for lunchtime, they had made it an open pit gate as there was only three of us on the track left so you could say it was our own private test day.
A big, thank you too Glen Kieseker Janet Barnes Ian Freeman help me more than you realise, and I really appreciate it
Let’s see what tomorrow brings 🙏🙏🙏🙏
