Hi all

Just a quick reminder to let you know:

Sign on/ registration for the 2013 season is this weekend. So all of those who are keen to play, should get on down to the club and sign on.

Sign on times are: this Fri 5-7pm, Sat 11-2pm and Sun 11-2pm,bar will be open and sausage sizzle etc

Also, Junior training has started and will be on Thursday at 5.30pm. As far as I can gather, the Tuesday training will probably start this coming Tuesday.

Wow

What a great experience for all the boys.

With much excitement, the team met at Suncorp Stadium to play in the curtain raiser for the Australia vs NZ Bledisloe cup game.
What a great game.
Having not played together for some time (as the season had finished some time ago) the boys really came together and pulled off a great win against Toowoomba.
The night however was not all about winning, but rather the experience of running onto the field before "The Big Game".

I have posted a number of photos taken both before and during the game. Some may be a little soft (thats out of focus) but I hope you all enjoy them.
Thanks to Mandy for shooting these off, its not easy in the limited available light, and subsequent slower shutter speeds.
Well done to all the boys and a big thank you to all the folks for bringing the boys up to the stadium

Suncorp Stadium 20 October - Aus vs NZ

Hi all
I think I have been able to get hold of you all re the curtain raiser match before the Australia vs NZ game at Suncorp on Saturday 20th October. (see below, I have copied the letter sent out by Australian Rugby Union)

I know some of you have already planned to attend the Game, having purchased tickets etc.
We will be given 20 tickets which is to cover the boys and some parents.

I need to submit the list of boys who will play asap. The Australian rugby Union letter talks of having 12 players (the game is 7 players) with 5 reserves, but I don't think that we need to have 12 players. I think if we could have 2 reserves that would be adequate. ie 9 players in total. I believe Archie is out so will need to find out whether the Sky team would like to put forward a player.

Please could you all confirm whether your boy will play or not and whether you already have tickets. This way we can determine which of the parents could attend.

I would like to arrange a practice for all the boys, to get back into the swing of it before the game.Please also confirm whether next week Tuesday or Friday would be OK for a 1 hour practice perhaps as 5PM.

Helensvale under 8’s have been chosen to represent your club and district by playing an under 8 game in the lead up to the Qantas Wallabies v New Zealand!
Your team (including two adults- coach/managers) gets to enter the field of play for a game of under 8 Rugby, as an added bonus they then get to sit near the try line to watch as the Qantas Wallabies warm up for their match!
Note that you and your participants are deemed to be Registered Participants with the ARU and as such you are not required to complete any further documentation for the coaches/manager or the players.
Please ensure you provide your team details on the attached winners listing template (note that this information needs to be accurate as we use this is the Test match program). Finally we attach a map of set-up regarding activities on the field of play. Ensure you make yourself familiar with this and bring a copy along on the day.

To all the boys and parents of the Blue team

What a fantastic season.

This team of cheeky little critters turned out to be an awesome force, winning most of the games very convincingly.
For a team where all but two players had not played rugby union before, wow, what a discipled, well behaved and well mannered group.
And above all they all had great fun.

Thanks boys, you have been an absolute pleasure to coach.

Thanks also to all the folks who ensured that their boys not only made it to practice, but were a well mannered team with a good team spirit and sportsmanship. Certainly a reflection on you all

All in all a great season.

Hi All

I believe that there is a rugby round robin day at Surfers this Sunday. I believe that it will be for most of the day.Not sure who would be interested. Ryan will not be playing as we are competing in a Duathlon on Sunday.
Would any of the boys be keen, if so and there are enough numbers Helensvale will enter 2 teams, if limited numbers, the two under 8 teams could enter as one team combined.

Tough win against Colleges 7 vs 5 tries

Tough play from Tommy ... wow would hate to have been on the receiving end of those tackles. Well done to Tom, being awarded player of the day.

Archie, always in there taking anybody who dare touch the ball..... down, you really deserve the tackler of the day award. Well done.

And to the team... well done boys. Another great win with loads of fun being had.

Just take a look at those scary faces.

Have a great break. See you all on the 12th of July for practice. Remember to keep up the fitness and get the folks outdoors to throw the ball about.
