This was a test / demonstration from a set of tests done by Yachting Monthly on emergency procedures. Worth going to the page & watching the video.

A team from Yachting Monthly put a 'Crash Test Boat' through its paces - including setting it on fire and blowing it up - to learn about the best way of dealing with an emergency when at sea.

We were doing some testing & photo shoot at Wave Break island on the Gold Coast when a large group of school kids from Helemsvale State High arrived in half a dozen tinnies & a mother boat. They have a subject Aquatic Practices in that they study the sea and inland water systems of the local area. In doing so they learn safe boating practices inc. snorkelling & end up with boat & radio licences.
It was heartening to see!!

This is a classic that did the circuit over 20 years ago & this clipping fell out of a book I opened yesterday (an old cruising logbook!!)
