At our school you can learn swordplay using methods straight out of renaissance texts. We teach a style known as La Verdadera Destreza, as well as other Iberian styles. We are committed to providing a safe and welcoming place for people of all ages, abilities, genders, cultural, ethnic or religious backgrounds or socio-economic status. Our social media rules and other polices can be found on our website. BSIS has a Covid Safety Plan in place and is open and operating within the rules for community sport.

HEMA went to Boonah for the Southern Realm Festival on the weekend and taught the public about what we do. If you missed out, you can catch us at the end of September at the Abbey History Festival. Thank you to everyone involved in our 10th Carranza Cup! We hope a new generation of fencers feel more confident entering the tournament scene after the support the community provided to them in our beginner-friendly event.

The primary change to rules of Carranza Cup this year is the introduction of the Simplified Clean Hit rule.

Any time only one fencer is awarded a scoring action, an additional point will be allocated.
