UQ DOUBLE SURPRISE TOURNAMENT
14 players participated in the UQ Tennis Club's Doubles Surprise Tournament which was played this morning (Sunday, 14 June). Play started 1.5 hours late because the courts were very slow drying after overnight rain and heavy early morning fog.
This was a fun tournament format in which all players were paired initially through a random draw and allocated to a numbered court for the first match. After each match, the winners moved up a court and the losers moved down a court. Players then switched partners for the next match. Everybody got six one-set matches for the morning and got to play with & against a variety of players. Games won and games lost were recorded for each player and their match ratios calculated.
The winners of the last match on the top court were Jack Trolove & Saraswat Basu who defeated Christopher Alford & Dien Tran 6-1. The players with the best match ratios were Saraswat Basu (3.09), Jack Trolove (2.40), Christopher Alford (1.28), Dien Tran (1.22) and Dawn Rene (1.12)
The Lucky Prize Draw winners were Arvind Ramaiya, Yanlong Meng and Hudson Unicomb.
