Struggling to self-motivate?
I find motivation comes in two parts - first is the genuine drive to do something because you WANT to and are inspired/excited/passionate, which is GREAT when you have it!
The second, comes down to discipline and self-respect - which means that even if you don’t WANT to do the thing, you focus on how doing it will benefit you - ie have a positive impact, reduce your stress, tick off something that’s been lingering on your to do list, or help you ‘move the needle’ towards your greater life goals.
So for the second, try to make it look like the first! Give yourself a little pep talk to help you shift it from not wanting to do ~the thing~, to focusing on how just doing the damn thing will feel, and how much you want that!
It definitely has made a HUGE difference for me in getting things done, including finally getting my tax stuff sorted today (which is a quarterly pain in my butt that really only takes an hour after weeks of procrastinating haha) - I really wanted to feel the relief of getting it sorted and crossing it off my list, so I focused on that!
