Episode #74 is now live!

In this brand new episode, Claire sits down to discuss Mens' Volleyball with former NCAA Coach David Heller from Georgetown and University of Mount Olive.

"Your journey to playing in the NCAA is not gonna be like everyone else's. Everyone's journey is different. Doesn't matter what sport, doesn't matter what gender, their journey cannot be compared to yours. So if someone else receives an offer when they're 15 and you haven't received an offer yet, don't stress. That's not a part of your journey. That's not something that you have to have done. If it's not on your checklist, I need an offer June 15th, the minute I turn 16, don't put that on your checklist. It shouldn't be on there by the way. But I think that those are things that you you can't judge your journey based on what's happened with someone else. It doesn't again give you value or take value away from you based on what happened to someone else."

A big welcome to Kaylee Dyska to the Study & Play USA family as a 2029 rowing recruit!

Kaylee is a student at Daramalan College in Canberra and is already making her mark in rowing, currently holding an impressive erg PB of 7:56.

One of her biggest achievements to date has been earning a place in the ACT Pathways Schoolgirls 1st VIII while only in Year 10! A fantastic achievement that highlights her potential and ability to compete in the college system.

We're looking forward to helping Kaylee find the right academic and athletic fit in the USA and seeing where her hard work can take her!

📢 Freshman Advice 📢

"My advice would be to introduce yourself to each professor after your first class. Let them know that you're an international student-athlete and that you're committed to doing well in the course. It helps professors put a face to a name and shows that you're engaged and proactive.

Building a positive relationship with your professors can make a big difference throughout the semester, especially during the season when you may have travel commitments or need to communicate about missed classes and assignments. Professors are often more willing to provide guidance, clarify expectations, and direct you toward academic support resources when they know you're making a genuine effort.

Many professors enjoy supporting student-athletes, and some may even attend competitions, but the biggest benefit of introducing yourself early is that it creates open communication and shows that you take both your academics and your sport seriously.

Another simple tip is to avoid sitting at the very back of the classroom if possible. Sitting closer to the front and participating when appropriate helps demonstrate that you're engaged in the class!"
